Welcome! Getting accustom is ok, but just be careful not to get addicted. I spend way too much time on here. :) It should come with a warning message.

Welcome to UHH. I have to agree with Courty's Mama. This forum is very addicting, but I sure you will find that out for yourself soon enough. :)

I appreciate your replys. Thank you. I've found that when it comes to birds, flying bugs, and butterflies, you don't always have time to set up a good shot. You take what you can get at a moments notice.

This cheery little guy greeted as I was leaving work today. He even honored me by staying long enough for me to get my camera out and snap a couple of pictures. C and C most welcome.

If you have to comment on C&C first check if the picture means something to you. If it does not, walk away. If it does and something troubles you, share that doubt because you are probably offering a pertinent advice or asking the right question. If your C&C consist of: Not in focus, not whatever, you really have nothing to say.

The person who posted the picture is asking for something else than the obvious (other than 'oooh' and 'aaah soooo cuuute', hopefully). I don't do fuzzy kitten.

English Wolf, I'm a little confused by the last two paragraphs. Maybe I'm reading something that's not really here. Are you saying that unless I have some constructive critique to give, that I shouldn't make any comment? I agree with what you've posted, we don't learn much when the obvious is stated over and over again without giving the person some ideas to try, like what f-stop to use, etc. I don't feel qualified to give that type of suggestion. But I do know when I like, and when a photo appeals to me, I like to let that person know that I enjoyed looking at their photo.

Welcome to UHH. As soon as you buy a new cable, you will probably find the lost one. Never fails. ;)

Looks like it pays to get bored. Seems like that's when we come up with some great ideas.

#1 - LOSE THE DATE-TIME STAMP- We'll take your word for the elapsed time, and it's stored in the EXIF info.
#2 (If possible) - get closer ! What would this look like from quay side (Or from the end of the jetty)? Super shot from here though - nice work!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 11:52am to 2:52pm is exactly 3 hours.

Cab0118 - Nice comparison shot.It looks like the boats(?) will be high and dry for awhile. At least 'til the tide comes back in.
I believe you should be able to turn the time/date stamp on and off in your cameras' menu.

Great shots. #3 is pretty ghoul. Oops, I mean cool. I notice the date on the gravestone in the lower left side dates back 84 years. Is this cemetary an old one (no longer used)or is this just the older section of the cemetary?

When I do a lot of my flower closeups, I often do them on a flatbed scanner with the background lights off. Gives me a nice black background which then has to be cleaned up a bit to remove residual pollen.

Beautiful results. I will have to give this a try.
