Just thinking .... it's probably because I'm looking at this big disc and thinking flat and it's obviously not.

Hi All,
Nice clear sky Wednesday night so trying to get some shots of the full moon. In general I'm pleased but just wondering why nice detail shows up on the right but not on the left. A DOF thing at that distance? Just wondering, thanks (Nikon D500, Nikon 200-500mm, 500mm, 1/320, tripod VR off) @ f8, ISO 400)

Really great shot Regis! Love the colors. Around here we have mostly a basic red one. Yours is spectacular.

Great series Carol!! Will have to add my vote to the stairway shot. Very fun ... reminds me of doing the Statue of Liberty climb many moons ago. Thanks for posting.

Nice picture, but looks like it is draining to the left.

Well, the outflow into Lynx Creek is to the left so could be.

Hi All,
Just not a lot of bird activity lately ... too hot I guess. Thought these cormorants were, at least, a bit interesting since they all seem to be studying something.

Dale, what might be "doldrums" to you could be enjoyable to someone else. We don't have the Lesser Goldfinch or the Ladder-backed here. These are excellent shots for sharpness and composition.
I know what you mean though; I'm getting bored seeing the same Cardinals and Cowbirds day after day.

Thanks Cnut ... appreciate you taking the time to look. Do miss those Cardinals from my Massachusetts days. Just was looking at a few of your old posts. Really like the Barred owls and that Eastern Bluebird! Thanks again.

Thank you for your comments, and for taking the time to view the earlier shots. This nest is pretty much eye level from a road that runs along a river. The nest is on other side of river, so I think it's a couple of hundred feet, maybe more. You can canoe or row boat down the river from a rec site about a mile away, but then you'd be too low to see the nest

The road seems like a great vantage point, not requiring a lot of hiking and gear toting. Very fun!!!

Hi All,
Looks like we're in the 'summer doldrums' for a while. All of the interesting birds have gone north for the summer. This morning we had 47 Lesser Goldfinches, one purple finch and one Ladder-backed woodpecker at the feeders. This Ladder-backed is from last month ... couldn't catch the one today. Going to have to head into the forest to find something more interesting.

Good Morning Dale,

Used On1 Photo 10, Enhance, Auto Color and Tone Adjustment, moved the "highlights" and "black" adjustments all the way to the left. Nothing else.

Worked for me with a really nice photo to start working with.

Hope this helps.

Pete

Very Nice!!! I'm also using ON1 with Lightroom. Had not tried those settings, looks great. Thanks,
Dale

What you did is a minor improvement - you still need midtone contrast increase and I would also take blue out of the midtones ......sorry, I am not a LR user......

One more go here. Posting it so I can compare since I (go ahead admit it) changed the previous rather than making a copy and working on it. I know, bad!!

Thank you all for your comments .... Step one expose original correctly! :)

In light room you could add something you add some vingetting. You don't need much it will darken the sky and around the edges and draw attention to the eagle in the middle of the photo.

See new attempt, I think that did help. Thanks,
Dale

I would lighten the shadows and darken the highlights and then add midtone contrast. I do not use LR - I use Elements.

Thanks, see another attempt.
