Nicely shot Walt, they a are great alternative to birds

I agree Curmudgeon…I had a blast sitting out back just zooming in from my chair…got some types of dragon flies I am working on…not as good but identifiable. A turquoise blue fly? A looong skinny waisted dragonfly , lol, lots to id and research. Never get bored in this hobby. Thanks for your kind words. Walt

LOL...all my birds seem busy elsewhere, I mean extremely low numbers and only a few Scrub Jays, Towhees and a RWBB come to my feeders & Suet! Hope they are busy feeding their young ones.

Anyway, I have a lot of Blackberry bushes that got away from me this year, with lots of blossoms that were full of small Butterflies & bees! Since no birds I started taking pics & this is a sample of what I captured. I have a couple hundred more similar pics just like this but I won't bore you with them.

I used my Rebel T8i and the Canon EF 70-300 MM IS USM lens that gives me an equivalent 480mm reach. I took a lot of pics to see which settings worked best for these conditions. I really liked F11 at 1/4000 and Auto ISO values that came down to the 800 range and had fun experimenting all up & down the range. A great day with a high percentage of keepers but all very similar.

I cropped the first pic from the original but included both for comparison. I purposely underexposed a slight bit trying to see effects of the different settings.

Sorry to disappoint you imagemeister, but this is a REAL

This is a REAL FORD GT…yes, you can have a REAL MUSTANG GT BUT IN REALITY IT IS NEVER CALLED THE FORD GT!

This is a very expensive super car that beats Ferrari etc. in the upper classes of racing …you are breaking protocol and will always get called on it…a Mustang is a wonderful car! Sure! But not GT class like your comment implies.

Final hummingbird (?) looks good. Consider some of the ideas presented in these posts. It looks like a lot of image detail was smoothed away in the noise processing of this image, and yet there's still a Luminance noise grain in the background. These posts below give ideas on how / why / where to move off the auto-selected parameters.

Also, change your camera calibration in the Develop Module from Adobe Standard to Camera Standard. You'll get more color saturation into the results. Just change the value on any of these examples, and re-export and compare the difference.

Send them to their local Canon.com website. The support section for the specific camera model will have the software for download, with ZERO need for physical media. Some software will require a valid EOS serial number, but the software is free and any valid EOS serial number will work, it doesn't even have to be for the camera model being 'supported' via the download.

As an older model, possible the T1i has been removed. Still no problem, just pick the oldest EOS Rebel model available and find the software in the downloads available for that model.

Thanks for all your advice here and great help. I appreciate it a lot! I have a T1i and a T8i…and a T6. Walt

Well Jfyi…I am approaching 80 in a few days and
I prefer my IPad Pro now it replaced my Dell Windows 7 laptop very nicely! I still process my pics on the dell, but am learning what the Apple can do and it sure is faster
! I can see not needing the laptop at all very soon.

My wife has an IPad Pro also with the Magic Keyboard and pencil attached and has completely switched over from Windows. I got her an Apple Watch and now I want one next for me. So SOME of us old timers are doing pretty good with the new gen electronics!

Lovely pics! Fantastic actually!

I grew up with these birds in the 40’s and 50’s …listening to them all night …every night in the Spring and Summer in Calif. we had to keep the windows open so any slight breeze could maybe cool us off as this was before AC in every home. Soon I grew to want them to shut up so I could sleep. Now at 80 I am awake in the middle of the night anyway but no Mockingbirds around here to keep me company! Talk about life being unfair! Lol…
