I don’t get why you’re bringing the grey market price into play. Go with the B&H scenario. It’s a fair price for you to pay and he’ll get more than B&H would pay him.
Makes no difference. You will always be able to go to the stadiums.
I don’t think that’s an accurate statement. The number of seats is finite and most seats are controlled by season ticket holders. The number of TV fans exceeds the number of available seats by far. On any given Sunday there might be 800,000 stadium seats in use. That number would get lost in the rounding of TV viewers.
Nice shots! I didn't know there were tall buildings in LI City. I thought everything on LI consisted of 1-3 story suburban residences and 8-12 story condos. It looks like a section of Manhattan!
Long Island City is physically located on the southwestern tip of Long Island in the borough of Queens, one of the five boroughs that make up New York City. It’s separated from the borough of Manhattan by the East River. The “skyline” has developed over the last twenty years or so when the business world ran out of room in the City and expanded across the river bringing a need for living space as well. Prior to that LIC was largely residential, some single family and two family homes and four/five story apartment buildings and some light industry. LIC and the adjacent Astoria section of Queens became hot spots for a generation whose parents considered it an accomplishment when they were able to upgrade with a move to Long Island or other NY suburbs.
When I was a kid, we lived in Long Island City about two blocks north of Queens Plaza. We lived on the top floor of a six story walkup and my Dad often took me on trips to the roof and from our unobstructed view he’d point out all the highlights along the skyline. Dad grew up almost directly across the East River and he’d tell me stories about his adventures on the streets of his neighborhood and where our relatives lived in Yorkville. He also gave me some lessons in perspective when he explained that while, from our angle, the Chrysler Building appeared taller than the Empire State Building the opposite was actually the case…as with many things in life.
How about eliminating the general non-photography chit chat forum? It has absolutely no relevance here. Th3 dialogue spirals into nonsense pretty fast. Me, I’m looking for photography insights here.
When I invoke the 5 second rule (longer, if I'm not quick) it is because I've decided to eat the morsel, not fearing the consequences, and make a joke about it.
I grew up in the Northeast US and crackers are not part of our traditions. Our extended family has expanded to the Southeast where crackers are part of Christmas dinners and celebrations.
