How is the grip on the Nikon D750? I hear a lot of people say it is tight.
Is it a dealer breaker for a big guy?

Stop into Hunt's Photo in Providence and hold one

I have a Sigma 105mm !:2.8D DG Macro EX lens I would like to sell. We are having part of an evening soon at my camera club to sell any unwanted items. I have a case and hood for it and it is in perfect condition. Always had an ultraviolet filter on it so no masks on the lens and has lens cap. Has anyone any idea of how much it would be worth. Thanks...

eBay says $230-$270
See below and only look at green numbers with multiple bids. These would be real sales.

Couple of things as I am in the business. There is no Nikon Authorized sale that ends tomorrow. The Body is $2,296.95 to $2,299.95. Nikon sets the price. If you are seeing it for less it is Gray Market. Nikon USA will not repair any Gray Market equipment at any price so keep that in mind. Gray Market needs to be returned to a dealer in the Country that it was originally intended for sale in to get warranty coverage.

Another note and this is from someone who owns 2 D750's. There is a flare issue that has been acknowledged by Nikon. see: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/6783820232/update-nikon-will-service-flare-affected-d750s-for-free

I will be sending mine in for evaluation of the issue. I have access to all the major brands and personally think that the D750 is incredible. Fast focus, excellent metering and a great low light performer. Just wanted you to have the facts

I have over 30,000 pics in iphoto on my iMac. I have Time Machine connected and subscribe to Carbonite.....and am still paranoid about the possibility of losing pics in a crash. Suggestions to safeguard my files would be most welcome...thank you...drb68

I have exactly the same set up, iMac, Time Machine and Carbonite. I also added 2-2TB GDrives. http://www.g-technology.com/products/g-drive-professional-external-hard-drive The list is$199.95 but Best Buy and others will often have them at $179.95. I use Data Backup http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_backup.php
and have a back up to one drive that is a full clone of my system and on the other drive i just backup photo's and files with a backup mode where it synchronizes the files

The small plastic protector that slides onto the flash Hotshoe used to be included with all Nikon's. Canon didn't provide one. Now I notice that on the D750 the protective cover for the Hotshoe is no longer included with the Camera

I recently bought a used Nikon D3S from KEH, they had a rating of 9.5 on this camera. Everything seems to be working fine except it will not format the CF card. Since I wanted to use the camera when I got it, I purchased a Promaster CF card from our local camera store (this was the only brand they carry). Could the problem be the card, or the camera? I can get through the menu to the point of saying all images will be lost, do you want to proceed. I can toggle through yes and no, but pressing ok does nothing. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. THANKS

Are you pressing the center of the toggle for "OK" or the actual OK button on the lower left corner of the back

Unlike all consumer grade Nikons where the "OK" is in the center of the Toggle on the D3s the OK is a dedicated button lower left

My best friend has two grandsons that are both on championship teams; one is in 7th grade the other 10th grade. He has asked me to take some photos of a couple games this Sunday. I have a 7100 and 70-200 2.8, 18-105 3.5 and 18-50 2.8 My main concern is the lighting and ice glare. Does anyone have any experience with shooting indoor hockey?

Thanks

Dave

The Camera Shop in Traverse City carry white balance caps for your lens that will allow you to do a custom white balance. Might be worth the trip Saturday. I shoot a fair amount of youth hockey, have a 7 year old grandson and 15 year old Granddaughter that play. Ask your friend to see if they will let you shoot from the bench. I usually get to and it is the way to go. Just keep an eye on the action or you may be in it. I usually shoot with 24-70 and 70-200 on FF so the 70-200 will be the go to but keep the 18-50 handy. I shoot with 2 D750's. Also I don't know about MI or BC but the lighting sucks in the rinks around here until you get to college where games are televised. I also agree with MT about bumping the EC. Try it you can always adjust if you get some practice before face off. I'm usually in Shutter priority around 1/500 and pushing the ISO. You may need to shoot faster for the 10th grader. Take some shots and then chimp and zoom into check for blur. you can't see it on the LCD unless you zoom in. I also use spot focus and always shoot in RAW. I have never had glare.
Again, try to get on the bench, this isn't the NHL

EDIT: You can also use a gray card and adjust WB in Post
