Maybe we should suggest in photography various photography forums that people suggest that they will cancel subscriptions.

Adobe, are you listening? We don't want to / can't afford a doubling of your monthly fee! There are a lot of us who are not pros, may I guess the bulk of your 'renters' are not pros who can deduct a higher cost. A LOT of us are retired, trying to expand our minds, horizons, earn a few pennies to pay for fun equipment & enriching activities, or documenting life in the real lane. We like some of the cool things we can do with Adobe products, but our lives & livelihoods don't depend on you products!

In light of recent events I really wouldn't fly United if I were you. It is time for a boycott.

At least hit them on twitter. I've been mileage plus since its inception. Hate to give up my miles, but this is way over acceptable.

See if your pelican case can put 2 tsa locks per hole (4 locks) all with different combinations. Tsa can unlock them all and as log as they put them all back on it will quadruple the time it takes for someone to unlock them. Of course this may also indicate that something of value is n place so it may become permanently misplaced. I am working on a setup that would allow a cable to be looped through the holes in the case such that multiple locks are more feasible. The issue I am running across is finding a cable where the loop Ferrell is small enough to fit through the hole in the case

so the suitcase frame is around 10 lbs. And now the photo case & camera will add another 10 lbs. Not much of that 50 lb limit will be left. Maybe flying into Canada or Mexico & driving across is easier. Drive Toronto - Buffalo & then fly from there, etc.

There is one alternative not considered how about an SLR? It isn't electronics and wouldn't be part of the ban. At least for canon, Nikon & Pentax shooters it would be a fair option. You most likely already have working lenses.

would tsa really be capable of telling the difference? and couldn't a tiny bomb be hidden in a nikon f2 as easily as in a nikon df2?

Not exactly tongue in cheek, but as a retiree with more time than I used to have, I'm considering a return to the old days of cruise ships and trains. That will make a trip take a lot longer, but there are some advantages.

But from what I've seen, the disadvantages include pricier tickets. I would take the train from Albany to Salt Lake City for my annual Idaho-Jackson trek (actually series of parties with friends,) except that the sleeper cabins are as expensive as a 1st class plane ticket. But 3 days in a day coach seat is not a good idea for someone who is technically elderly. (And, yes, I've looked into it because of the TSA & airline carry-on restrictions in the past several years.)

my new phone -- moto z force -- has a back mod that can be a Hasselblad camera (https://www.wired.com/2016/08/review-hasselblad-true-zoom-camera-moto-z/) Apparently this also can do raw capture (https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-mods/hasselblad-true-zoom) I haven't sprung for it, thought i would want a good wide angle lens for my Nikon D7100. but after reading this conversation, I'm rethinking this ;-)

and here in the (near) Hudson Valley, our ticks carry not only borrelia burgdorferi, but also b. miyamotoi (for which there apparently is no accurate test), a virus that kills, and a bunch of other nasty diseases! i know people who have been crippled by one of more of these, plus my daughter is presently undergoing i.v. antibiotcs & i.v.i.g. treatments to try to subdue her decades long infections (from when I would drag her down to Kentucky so I could go caving & we got covered by all sorts of tick forms.)

I had this happen on cc and used live chat. You would need an account which you should already have if
You licensed it before.
If you change video cards or have a hard drive fail and install again it will revoke the key until you tell adobe what happened. I’ve gone down this road because of a change in the hardware on my computer.
In the subscription model the system has to talk to the adobe servers to keep it operating.
If they no longer support cs6 there will no longer be a server to authorize the software.
There are ways around this but I’m not going there.
Good luck.

ah, so this is what happened to my adobe acrobat (standard.) i replaced my travel netbook & tried to install acrobat on it, but couldn't. i have no need for a full feature subscription version so i'm having to make do with a freebie. don't know what i'll do when i replace my working laptop. hope there's a adequate non-adobe pdf editor out there by then! (even on my working computer, i don't use the editing enough for a monthly-charge version.)

mine (CC version) went into a strange state a couple of days ago where it insisted i had a trial version. i found the adobe forum & posted a what's up kind of question. the next morning all worked as paid for. i don't know if it was a server connect glitch on their end or whether their count down software has a bug & my post helped to get me a quick resolution. it's all a big mystery. but as of yesterday, the problem seems to have disappeared.
