Dude,
my first thought is borderline stalking, second thought is good drugs.

are you well hydrated when you are seeing this?
When ones body is lacking hydration the mind will play games with you.

I dont mean this is any critical way just saying and trying to make light of what you may or may not be seeing.

Again a huge "thank you" for all who responded to this thread!, & I applaud all of you that volunteer.

As someone mentioned, as a volunteer we often don't get thanked for what we have done or continue to do. We have to think that "It's not always about "us" it's about "them"

WHEEZIE

a little off topic, but on my vest I wear, I have a patch in memory of one of my good friends we lost recently. In his honor the patch says it all, "Its not about me its about us."

I think if one volunteers looking for recognition and rewards they are volunteering for the wrong reasons. No one can do everything but everyone can do something.........

For those who volunteer to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, I admire what your doing. I wish you were around some 30+ years ago. I don't think I could do this.

When I seen the title of the thread here
Anyone ever "volunteer" their photography services?
My first thought was really sarcastic like" What we get paid to do what we do? But I cant be sarcastic like that, in type you folks don't know me so I don't want to start a war for a little joke. So then after I got my eyes dried, read all 8 pages, maybe its 9 now, I gave it some thought because so many times I will have my camera in my hand of strapped to my bike and a friend of a friend said I might take some photos for Joes second cousins ex wife's sisters wedding. For them I have disposable cameras and explain how much fun it is getting the cameras developed after the wedding. I also tell them "there's some talent in your family, just give them a camera and let them go".

But yea sometimes I just take a candid photo and get the party's name and address and send them a 5x7.

The most heartfelt donations I do on a pretty regular basis is a family portrait of a soldier and his family just before deployment. I give to the family an 1 11x14 collage 1 8x10, 2 5x7s, and 16 wallets. I treat them with the most respect I can and wrap each package and many hand deliver. Shortly within 2 weeks of deployment. Signed sealed delivered.

Of course it has brought other business, but that is not why I started doing this. You see I am a veteran too, these young men and women are leaving their homes not knowing if or when they may return. 90 troups 90 packages, thats nothing compared to the price many of them are paying for our freedom, for our rights to do what we do, I have been there. So that is a pretty regular thing I do volunteering. I do many other things but I would love to see others in other states also do this. like NILMDTS, that photo just may be the last family photo they ever have, so it is special.

Diet,
go buy "Black & White Photography" a basic manual by Henry Horenstein.
If you cant buy it private message me and I will send you one.

It is a bit old school, but if you dont have the basics this book will give you pretty much everything you can start learning.

My day in the military, you couldnt drop out.

That's exactly right.

The Army (for example) resists taking "non high school graduates" because their statistics show that those that don't finish high school also are most likely to drop out of their training.

jaroberts, and what a beautiful smile you have,, keep smiling chrome isn't cheap.

There really isnt a discount place for chrome like we can find camera gear at different places a little less, or at least our gear should pay for itself. Thats how I justify in my own head buying something new. Is it worth it will it pay for itself or is this peaton just for me.

lol, about the beer thing, You can hike it off with the camera gear, we are allowed to put on a little weight over the winter, I call it insulation that comes off in the spring.

So RE the Thinktank holster and harness........

does anyone use the shoulder strap when having the harness all hooked up to the holster? just wondering how others wear it.

I put it on and got on my bike today just to see if I could quickly and safely drop my kickstand and pull the camera out without any issues..

I think once I get use to it a bit I wont have any problems. Now looking at more think tank gear Hubby picked out from their website. Wonder what he wants?

OMNikon, good to see you on here.

Well at the risk of bringing up chrome again,,, I got my think tank bag and harness today.

I've been like a piggy in a gorilla cage.

We both have been having a ball since the big brown truck delivered it.

Lets see, I tried to try the harness on,, it doesn't hook up like a parachute,, first thing he said is it didn't have a back up emergency pull cord.

So after closely examining the bag itself he asked why didn't I buy one sooner? Duhhh are all you men like this?? All I could say was it wasn't in the budget. But I am glad he approves of my new toy, now if I can get him to stand still long enough to really figure out how to contract the whole thing.... he wants to try to hook a chute up to it and see just how strong it is.

Has anyone seen "Old Man Nikon" online? hope he is doing okay,

johnr9999, some amazing changes in medicine in the past years. And Yes I am sure prayers helped. When the man upstairs desides its time, then thats the final word. I have found, "Each survivor, gives another a reason to fight" so hang in there there is a reason for you and mine to be here today your mission is not over yet.

So as I am typing this, My better half brings the bag up to me all rigged with repelling line. Did I mention we live on top of mtn in the middle of 45 acres? I carry line with me 24/7.

I also bought a couple of ThinkTank pixel pocket cases. One for me and one for my sister vet out west.

Bottom line I am a happy camper, now I just have to set up the tent. No pun intended, lol

deanna_hg, I meant to have fun with it. The post. Life is to short not to love live and laugh.

Can I disagree???

okay I disagree, MT I stole your photo blew it up and just compared what was just posted with your shot and I'm sorry its not a redtail.

Sorry Hawkguy and Cam, I just do not think the two birds are the same. even taking into consideration that the shot MT took the bird is in a sitting or honch position, the eyes are different, the chest is different, the tail is different in color and shape.

MT have you seen this bugger again? slap a 2x on your camera go out again.

Gotta run race is about to start.

Later dudes and dudettes

and No I would not say Red Tail at all I agree with that...

get some chicken pieces,,,,,, they like meat, what the wardens told me. They had known exactly where the nest was but wanted to know where I took the photos, we coordinated a little bit but they never would tell me where the nest was.

seen similar up in northern Maine
very rare find if thats what it is..

still looks like a saker to me, but Im not a birdie person, I just was out one day shot a couple rolls off on my med format. so graceful so wide wing span and still smaller than an eagle. Had me stumped until I took my photos to warden service.

I continued to take photos of him for the most part of the summer into late fall.
