here's a dropbox link to a guide on the AF system of the 7DmkII that Canon came out with a while back. It does a very good job of explaining the various settings and their properties:

this guide also is pertinent for the newer cameras as well. Hope it helps

I find that being able to move the focus point is extremely helpful when photographing moving objects-and it is also a great aid in composition, since you are now thinking through the placement of elements in your image.

when are you planning on being there? I'll be in the park from Oct 28-Nov 12. If you are in that time frame, I'll be happy to show you around.

You might also look to see if the focus limiting switch has been moved to a setting that prevents focusing in the length you are working in.

I bought and used one on my canon iP9000. It worked well, once installed and set up. The iP9000 used 8 cartridges, which made the setup time consuming-and critical. Routing the tubes to the ink catridges and having everything moving correctly took a little time, but once done, it worked quite nicely. I don't remember the name of the company I bought the kit from, but do remember they were based in Lakeland, FL. The kit was well thought out and came with everything needed, except for tools. If I remember correctly, the kit was in the $250 range, and that was with 500ml ink tanks-with ink.

It is interesting to me that the two posted photos,

them at the pixel level, and every detail is exactly

If expertly photographing two matching items

an exact pixel-for-pixel match is not in the realm
of reality.

My BS detector is registering above midrange.

you didn't notice that one image has a battery model number imprinted?-and one didn't.

Since there are a lot of photographers shooting the same subject, are there classes about panning and shutter speed and exposure? I've never been to a workshop such as this or the silhouetted photos of cowboys on ranches (those might be sunset ), but they seem very popular.

here's a link to this event-they've already got a date for 2020. If you can find your way to Florida in April, it's an event to NOT miss.

Nice shots-I did the shoot on Saturday evening with Roman. It was a lot of fun, and the the FL Birding Festival was quite a learning opportunity. Looking forward to next year. Thanks for posting-I was wondering about signing up for a morning session, and definitely will next year.

Hey Hoggers, looking at an Ultra Wide for a 7200. Nikon 10-20, Sigma 10-20, Tokina 11-20,Tokina 8-16 for Landscapes and Interiors. So far leaning to either Tokina. Done a lot of research.
Thanks

I have the Sigma 10-20mm, f3.5, and love it-find I use more than I thought I would. I shoot a Canon 7d2(crop sensor), and find the range very useful. The lens produces very sharp images.

For those who are using Topaz AI Sharpen, do you mind sharing your computer specs (Windows only please). This isn't the first time I've seen in a thread about slow rendering. Thank you in advance.

I've got an older Toshiba laptop:

AMD A6 CPU- 2ghz
Radeon R4 graphics
16gb ram(14.8 usable)
1TB HDD/7200rpm
WIN 10 Home Ed.

I got a 30 days trial of Topaz AI, the results are amazing... but I have to wait an average of 10-15 minutes per picture. Is this "normal" for the program ?.
I'm running it in a very " decent PC" (16 GB of memory , 5i Win 10 64 Bits) and I'm afraid to purchase a program with this kind of latency.
Any help ? Thank you all !!

go to the upper left of the program window to "FILE". Go down to "PREFERENCES" and change the defualt processing mode from GPU to CPU-makes all of the difference in the world.

I have a Canon EOS 5D MKII. I'm having a problem with autofocus using a 28-135mm IS USM lens.
It only happens occasionally and it could be when taking a photo of a group or an object. It isn't limited to soft material, low light, or any of the usual suspects. I'm aware that with a Canon, the autofocus problem would be with the lens. Even happens when I switch focus point to hit a hard object. I typically use only one focus point.
I'm aware that the lens is no longer produced. I found a new lens on Amazon (from a third party) and one at Park Avenue Photo (that I wouldn't think of buying from.)
Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Probably going to be an issue with the flex circuit inside the lens-or the AF motor, itself

I can't say that I really understand the science of HOW this works, all I care about is the possible end results. I assume this is probably how this was done.

Pretty cool stuff, huh?

Interesting article. It'll be interesting to see if, and how quickly this technology is developed and migrated into the photography world.
