I did not misunderstand your question. I was looking at the shutter speed, not the ISO.

MadMikeOne wrote:
You misunderstood my question. I wasn’t asking if you “tried changing the ISO” in order to see if the shutter speed would change. I am simply wondering if you were possibly looking at the ISO mistakenly thinking it was the shutter speed. The ISO would not necessarily change when you change the shutter speed or aperture. Stranger “operator errors” have occured.

Yes. I tried changing the ISO to see if that would change the shutter speed.

I hope someone can help with this issue. My Nikon D500 will not change the shutter speed in shutter priority mode or in manual mode. It also will not change shutter speed in aperture priority mode when I change the aperture. I am trying to avoid doing a factory reset or taking it to the local camera store. I'm really hoping it does't have to go back to Nikon.

I tried Mapquest a few days ago and got the screen shown below. Two different computers and several days later, and I'm still getting this screen. I can't do anything with Mapquest now.

Any ideas?

Maquest worked ok for me. I have a Windows 7 PC (64 bit) and used the "get directions" tab.

MT Shooter

Thanks ..... Going to check it out on Wednesday. I had a D300 and stupidly sold it and been kicking myself ever since. Loved the camera. Mine was also in mint condition but only had 10K shots.

I had a D300S and sold it to a photo journalist when I bought the D500 from MT Shooter. He had one D300S and was buying mine for his wife who kept taking his. It's a great camera.

There are, without a doubt, excellent camera stores who have featured mail order services.

But it occurred to me that we still need to endorse our -local- camera stores, especially if they have an excellent reputation.

To begin, I'd like to endorse Schiller's Camera store here in St. Louis, here for more than 100 years, and outstanding staff. I've purchased my Canon 5DII from them, and along with that 3 L series lenses. They are always my "go to" store, not only for the equipment, but also for opinions and advice. I know all of you would agree with me in saying that we NEED to support our local camera stores. So I'm beginning that here with: www.schillers.com

I hope no one minds my beginning thread.

In St. Louis I have used both Schiller's and Creve Coeur Camera. Schiller's seems to have move knowledgeable and helpful sales personnel.

Well, this did seem like the perfect answer. Unfortunately, Amazon lists it as unavailable, as do a couple of other sites I checked. So close, yet so far away!!

I looked for the TEKNIQ bag online. It looks like it might be discontinued. I found one at E-Bay for$45.00. The seller says it was bought and never used.

Hello,

I need a backpack that will allow me to haul gear to distant destinations, but includes a smaller removable bag I can then use to carry around just one camera with an extra lens.

Here's what I take on trips: Nikon 810 with 28-70 lens. Olympus mirrorless with 25mm prime and a 35-100 zoom. An extra battery for each camera and chargers for the batteries. An iPad and/or a small HP laptop along with relevant chargers. Odds and ends such as a filter case and a memory card case. And, oh yes, a handful of meds I don't want to pack in checked bag.

Any suggestions that would not require getting major financing?

Many thanks,

John

I have a TEKNIQ bag that is modular. It can be a backpack, a sling, or a small shoulder bag. The top piece unzips to make the sling bag and the shoulder bag. When it is put together it is the shoulder bag. The bag also has several small zipper pockets for cards, filter, etc. This has been my "goto" bag since I got it. Also, it is not expensive. I ordered it when it was a Kickstarter project.

After I finished buying a guitar, a uke, bunch of macro gear, 2 Nikon film SLRs, a point&shoot, & a couple of Nikkor lenses, I pretty much drained 1st quarter's fun-money-bucket dry. But I still had to have a DSLR -- an el cheapo, obviously -- to learn digital with. So I bought a "condition excellent++" Nikon D330 body (a bit over 18,000 clicks) for $300, fob Hawaii, & that included its original box & ALL the stuff that came in it waaay back when it was new. (I wanted the D300s but couldn't find right seller/condition/price.)

PLEASE comment on the following:

1) Did I get screwed on the D330 for $300? (I probably won't be happy with the answers, but please be blunt... I need to learn how to do deals when it comes to used photo gear.)

2) Now that I am married to the d330 for the next 4-5 months, I need to buy a prime lens for it. If I want to eat for the rest of February, I have to find something decent for under $150. Any suggestions would be muchly muchly appreciated.

I used the D300s for several years until I bought the D500. I advertised my D300S on Craigs List. A photo journalist bought it, because he was tired of his wife taking his. Yes, I think you got a good deal.

Two weeks ago I asked for advice on which camera to buy (D7200, D7500, or D500) and everyone said go with the D500 which I did. So first of all I want to thank everyone that helped me. Now I need help again. I would like to buy a book to help with the D500. Which book does everyone think is the best? Once again thanks to everyone.

I have David Busch's book and Thomas Hogan's book for the D500. I haven't really got into Thomas Hogan's book yet. I bought Thomas Hogan's as a download so I could have it wherever I am. I also have Steve Perry's book about the Nikon auto focus system which is excellent.

I would like to thank all, well all but one, for your help.

THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. In a simple "uncheck" a box, it works great. PS is all updated and working.

Even though apparently by some, I am using unsupported software. Just gotta love people who don't have a clue.

I also upgraded my laptop to Windows 10. That will give me a chance to work with it, if things go smoothly, I may indeed upgrade my desktop.

Oh and also, the Windows 10 upgrade was free from Microsoft.

Gosh the things one can learn here at UHH, as long as you have time to wade through the BS...LOL

I also downloaded Windows 10 while it was still free. When I did not like it, I didn't want to completely give it up. I ran an image on an external hard drive, and put it away for future use if I need it.

So that would be a user problem, wouldn't it?

No, it wasn't a user problem. When I changed the things that I wanted to work MY way, after a shutdown and restart they were changed back to Microsoft' controlling way. I called Microsoft and "that's the way it works" was basically the response I got.

Just got off the phone with Adobe, boy does their tech support suck, not to mention I could not understand the person on the other end.

So I tried to update PS to 2018, only to find, it won't happen. After talking with Adobe (on hold for 1 hour and 21 minutes) She informed me that the current version will not work with Windows 7 Pro/64bit.

I really do not want to upgrade to Windows 10. But looks like I might have to.

Is anyone out there using Win 7 and was able to make PS 2018 work? I have read some posts in different forums, but not really finding the answer.

I am using Adobe CC, for LR and PS. I am getting close to telling Adobe to stick it and move completely over to On1.

Thanks,
Gary

I am using Adobe CC, Lightroom and PS on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit desktop and laptop. I have not experienced any issues. I downloaded Window 10 and it lasted 2 days before I felt like I had no control. I then removed it and went back to Windows 7.

I feel I’m bored with that one & have gotten all I can from it.

PhotoPro Expo is in Covington, KY on 8 to 12 Feb 2018. Shutterfest is in St. Louis, MO on 3 to 4 Apr 2018.
