We stayed at the Chisos lodge, so the window was in front of us a lot. We spent one evening doing sunset there with little result, as the clouds didn't cooperate. There was some colour, finally, though.

I was sort of amazed at the size of the park and how different it was from section to section.

I remember the park ranger saying that Big Bend had 3 eco systems in it.

Its a great National Park.

Nice series. Sure the leading lines can be shadows, it works.
And yea you always have to be careful behind you, either cactus, snakes or a cliff.
I always wanted to do a workshop but I don't think I would like to do the one you did.
I like the images you got.

And I'll bet their chili is good. I had a bowl at the hotel, and it was really good - not like most hotel chili. We were hoping for some dark skies, but unfortunately we had full moon and cloudy skies. So between the two, we did no night sky work (which I was sort of looking forward to).

What I had was very good, along with DB's BBQ, which was excellent.
I was there in Sept. and it was great for dark sky viewing. The great thing about it was that the Milky Way could be seen at 10:30 so I didn't have to get up at 2 or 3 in the morning and it was still warm. Win/Win. LOL.

Big Bend is really nice in the lack of people compared to other parks right now. Terlingua is a hoot! We went there for breakfast a couple of times because the "breakfast" at the hotel was $10/person and consisted of a sweet roll (tiny) and coffee! We were told they didn't have a full breakfast bar because of lack of personnel.

I stayed at a VRBO right outside of Terlingua. It was great, so dark and quiet. Awesome views of the Milky Way.
That was in 2017. There have been a lot of new VRBO's built in the last few years. I was told it gets packed during the big Chili Cook off.

Very nice.
I loved Big Bend and Terlingua when I was there. Quiet and not a lot of people. Just the way I like it.
DB's Rusitic Iron BBQ along 170 is some of the best bbq I've ever had.

This has been an excellent series, well done.
So many great places to explore and hike.
I'm probably late to this but if your going back to Kanab check out Toadstool Canyon. The trail head is right off of 89 about 45 miles east of Kanab.
Also if you go back to Kanab the Sqaw trail (although it might have been renamed) right in town is a really nice hike with great views of the town.

These are beautiful, Mike. I love your picture of the bend. What lens did you use? My widest is 28, and it's not enough. You got it beautifully!

Agree. I was wondering that too. The fencing blocked some of it for me.

Very nice set. Looks like you got there at a good time.
I need to compare your shot of the bend with mine from last year but it looks like the water level is much lower.
I would like to go back to Kenab. Its such a great little town and is close to some awesome hikes and scenery.

Those are fantastic. The Photo of the elephants drinking is spectacular. So well done.
My second favorite is the last one with the elephants leaving.
Excellent set.

I have a question about using Photoshop. My son got married a number of years ago and we had a family picture done with his bride and my side of the family. Of course now he has gotten divorced and remarried. He asked me if there was a way to put his new wife's head in where his old wife's head was. (They pretty much have the same body style).

Does this involve making layers on the old photo and the new photo, along with making smart objects out of the new wifes head and how do you move it?
I have a question about using Photoshop. My son go... (show quote)

Think of the quote by Malcolm in the original Jurassic Park....Dr. Ian Malcolm : "Yeah, yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."
and you remember how things turned out there. In other words....Run away.

Sure you CAN do it, but I think the first question you need to ask is does the new wife want her head on the old wife's body? I can probably guess the answer.
