Yes, I have been playing the trombone since 1967 (ouch!), including 10 years in the band of 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards. I play so rarely now, I am giving my bone to the grandson of friends. He is learning, and apparently doing very well. I have a 'spare' bone, in case I should ever be called upon in an emergency! After the last time I played in church, I decided to keep the bone out of its case, to be more available if the mood strikes. It has been sitting on a stand in the corner of the kitchen for probably close to 4 years now!

My dad bought me a trombone (Conn--I think) when I was in fifth grade and I played in school bands thru high school in 1962. Pretty much nothing after that. In the early 1980s my wife gave my instrument to someone without even letting me know. I would have at least saved as a souvenir the King mouthpiece that I bought a few years into playing, but that didn't happen. I can't really complain; she's better at liberating me from stuff I no longer use than I am. I keep everything, because, "Who knows? I may need it someday."

Hi Bloke: First, I like your moon shot--I think it can be really good without too much work--a little cropping would be good. Second, I'm wondering from your avatar if you are a trombone player. But again, on point, I like your moon. I will leave it to those with more expertise than I have to give you more constructive comments.

Went to copy and save and found I had already saved a prior copy. This was a more detailed list of instructions so I have saved this one too. Thanks for sharing.

Serene autumn foliage of the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia & West Virginia at it's best...
Stellar multidimensional effect... Epic illusion of three demonstrations in a two dimensional rendering....

Warm dominate Reds in foreground, recessive forest Conifer Green in mid-ground and the distal haze background.
Many acres of this pristine wilderness was lost to bituminous coal extraction i.e. Strip Mined and then later reclaimed.
With the endless excessive thirst for "Cheap Energy" petroleum wells replaced the rape of the Smoky Mountains...

Now it's the The Permian Basin's oil-and-gas-producing of West Texas and southeastern New Mexico.fueling the exploitation of the South West wilderness... much of which is arid and too hostile an environment for human habitation...

Yet still wishing I could go back to those beautiful Smoky Mountains

And daddy, won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the green river where paradise lay?
Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking

In what town are these located? I may be tempted to drive thru. I particularly liked the yellow house.

Rabbi . . . thanks for your message. I'm much more closely aligned with you on this question than I am with the pope.

Ignorance, especially the wilfull type, is the biggest danger. Knowledge about these subjects is constantly improving, sometimes voiding what we thought we knew, and being 78 is no excuse for not trying to keep up.

At my age, I don't worry too much about all the doomsayers. I try to live responsibly and I try to enjoy it, but I don't stay awake nights fretting about it all. I'm really not as nervous as my name might imply.

Seems like the 200-500mm with the 1.4 in you pocket would give you plenty of flexibility. Good luck.
