My first two purchased cameras didn't use batteries.

My first camera (Argus C3) didn't use batteries either, but the flash that pluged into it used 2 C cell batteries, if I remember correctly, and Sylvania Blue Dot flash bulbs. Ahhh, the good ol' daze!

I just received a strange phone call from (Supposedly) a Microsoft rep/agent.
A gentleman with a distinct Indian accent called a little while ago. He told me that my computer was infected with malware and/or viruses and he was calling from MS to help me. He told me to press the Windows key and type something like eventxxx at the prompt. I told him that I was very leery about typing anything in and running any program at someone who purportedly represents Microsoft.
He then told me that he knew my unique ID number and told me to write it down. He the told me to run MSCONFIG from the prompt and type in ASSOC which would match the number he gave me beforehand and prove he was legit. While he was talking to me I looked at the reports from Malwarebytes and Norton and they showed nothing.
I then told him that I very reluctant to do anything he suggested via a "phone call from Microsoft."
I said that unless I received an official email from MS, I wasn't going to run any programs from someone who made a personal call to me.
He said goodbye and hung up.
I then decided to back check the number he called me from and the app said it was an invalid number.
Has anything similar happened to any of you?
What are your thoughts?

I was getting about one of those a week, sometimes more. I went to school for IT, so it sounded funny from the start, so I started playing with them. I finally got so they would hang up on me. LOL

This is a general question and I realize there will be variations amongst different cameras. Here it is. If I have the camera set to any one of the various auto-ficus options, would I damage the lense mechanism by rotating the lens barrel in the event I am dissatisfied with the auto-focus result. Should the camera software reassert its focus.

I think what you're referring to is lens specific. For instance, I shoot Canon, and my 55-250 STM lens will let me over ride the Auto Focus at any time, but with the 18-55 kit lens I have to turn AF off to manually focus. It evens warns not to try to manually focus with AF turned on. So read your manual!

I like the Yongnou because it has two identical units, and each can be used as the remote.

I,ve been using the Yougnou RF-603CII-C1 for some time now. Haven't had a problem yet. Just make sure you get the updated one for your camera (Canon has 2 different models). The updated model has the locking ring that the 603C does not have, so it won't slide out of the hotshoe. At $30 a pair, they won't break the bank for sure.

That's true, Nikon did develop the first lens for Canon, but they didn't make cameras, just lenses, and those were designed by a German named Heinrich Acht. The Canon cameras were built after the designer, Goro Yoshida, disassembled a Leica Model II to see how it worked.

Guess whose name was on the lenses for the first Canons?

I have a LowePro Magnum 35 bag I've been using for almost 20 years, a relic from my film daze. Still a great bag. I use a Tamrac backpack for a walkin' around bag. The loaded Lowepro was just too heavy and I was so much younger.

Have a Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW for over 4 years, main zipper broke. Contacted Lowepro, they asked for product code number, and shipped me new Lowepro Singshot 202AW without me having to send back damaged old model. Great customer service, deserves to be recognized.

On the T5i (700D) press Menu, then scroll over to Custom Function (C.Fn), press set, then setting 1 (AF/AE Lock), set again, then press Menu again and you're set.

The Canon 7D has some great features, But I use the flip out monitor a lot on my T3.

Additionally, the higher resolution of the T6s appeals to me, even though I know the dual feature on the 7D compensates for some of the difference. I am trying to get information on the higher usable ISO rates on the D5500 versus the newer T6s. Not a lot of solid detail on the T6s yet.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Do you have the T3, or the T3i? The flip out screen is on the T3i. And what lenses do you have?
The T6s is a nice camera. It has a 24 Megapixels sensor, which will double what the T3 (12) has, and the T3i has 18 Megapixels. All the EF & EF-S lenses will work on it. The T6s also has the Digic 6 processor and shoots 5 frames per Second.

Does anyone know if they make a wireless remote shutter release for a nikon d3100....and if so where could one be obtained??? Hoping an actual store, but doubting that.. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try the Yongnuo RF-603N II Wireless Flash Trigger. It says it works for the D3100. I have the RF-603C II for my Canon, and it works great. Make sure you get the RF-603N II and not just the 603N, the upgraded model has a lock ring that keeps the trigger from sliding off the camera. They can also be used for off camera flash too.

The auto focus on the T5 is the same as the T3i, in that it only the center focus point is a cross type. On the T5i all of the 9 focus points are cross type, and it has the articulated touch screen, and it has the DIGIC 5 image processor while the T5 has the DIGIC 4 like the T3i. I don't have a lot of faith in the touch screen.

Isn't T5 basically T5i without articulated screen
T3 basically T3i without articulated screen
