I like it and expect I will use it instead of the "old" format. As others have said, the "topics" in the traditional format can be so cryptic that several button presses later you realize it is not something you wish to pursue. Also the shortcut for posting seems like it will make that activity easier. I think new members will definitely find it more intuitive, and veteran members can spend less time explaining what buttons to push to accomplish various tasks. I don't have any changes to suggest at this point.

Has anyone noticed or know any rhyme or reason or more specifically timing on Nikon opening it's restrictions on who "can/may" repair certain models? I know that certain older models which, as all, when the camera was first introduced were restricted to Nikon only repair/service centers, are now "allowed" by Nikon to be repaired at other facilities, which also means they are making proprietary parts/service available to those facilities. Any guesses/knowledge on when this might happen for the D7200? -which is still "Nikon Only." I knowingly bought a gray market D7200 some years back, and it gave good and proper service until just recently, but it now has the "funks" in certain functions- not user or camera setting induced, but in the internal processing of the images. (as in it intermittently goes nuts and produces useless images- in JPG only.) I shoot both RAW and JPG so we don't got need to go there (please), I am just trying to assess my options for this particular body which is not my only one. Any thoughts? Or, has anyone experienced that specific problem which in my case is manifested by horizontal (in landscape orientation) multi-colored/distorted striping on random JPG images.

"Tripod trolls" (and $$ attachments) are among the worst. Just sayin' too. Yes, a $50 tripod might be a "little" rickety. We get it.

I often shoot with the Sigma 17-70 "Contemporary" lens (D7200). It is my understanding that it is a "notch below" Sigma's so-called "Art" line, their premium lenses, but has less weather resistance, etc., "better optics" than a so-called standard lens. A manufacturer's distinction for marketing purposes. The lens should stand on its own merits and features.

I hope not. If you don't use the software, you don't have to update it.

Took this handheld .jpg with a "kit lens" Nikon D7200. Am wondering whether I should get a D750 now - or a D850? - and should I have shot it in RAW, then edited?-if so, what software and should I use the histogram? Or should I get a mirrorless? or medium-format? Curious Hogger wants to know.

If I were forced to use prime lenses only, I would likely abandon the hobby. I find them more often than not limiting, and more often than not seem to have the wrong one on when I see the opportunity for a shot that interests me. Some say, "Zoom with your feet, primes will instill discipline in you as a photographer." I say balderdash. *Of course* they are optimal For certain situations and types of shots, at which time I "mission-specifically" gladly affix them.

Yeah, I used to be quite wealthy at one time. However, I spent some of my money on booze. I spent some of it on women. I guess I just wasted the rest.

If I’m asking it’s because I don’t know the answer,I don’t spend my whole day in the forum looking for every topic every day ,but anyways thanks to spend a minute of your time to tell me nothing,👍🏻

No, He told you that the "answer" has already been given thousands of times since you joined. I don't spend each minute of every day on this forum either- far from it, but a quick ratio delay study of myself tells me that even from my infrequent interaction with UHH compared to some others, there is no one answer- there are many opinions, and the use of a tool found at the top of the page shows this. That is "something." If you were someone who had joined last week, I would not be posting this comment.

Having just made the transition from DX to FX I can offer a little insight into the matter. My older camera was a 16MP DX and the "new" FX one is 24 MP (I believe both cameras you have, and are considering, are 24MP). Honestly, the difference is hardly noticeable to me. The files are much larger and you can crop more of the FX picture and still get good results however, the FX camera weighs almost double the DX and the FX lenses are more expensive, bigger and heavier. Maybe if I went to a 30 or 40 MP body I would see a greater difference in the pictures, but, the difference in price would be more than I care to spend. Bottom line for me is: the extra weight and extra cost of lenses made the switch much less appealing than I would have thought. Live and learn.

I'll stick with my D7200 thank you. Not as *large and clunky,* expensive lenses, and it takes good photos if I do my job. I too had that GAS attack, but fought it off a while back.

This is typical gear head bs.

https://www.markmetternich.com - show me another photographer with what ever gear you believe that takes better pictures than Mark.

If anything, the quality of today’s top photographers are better than what was produced in the past.

I know you don’t personally have anything to show, you never show any photos and we are on a photo forum.

I will not hold my breath, because you just troll.

I won’t be signing-up for any of Mark’s workshops any time soon. Yuck. Website images are antithesis of what *I* consider “state of the art” or desirable results. To each his/her own.

I shoot with a D7200 and keep a UV filter on all my lenses for protection (and haze cutting). I shoot a little bit of everything- from portraits and landscapes to macro. (when shooting portraits, macro, sometimes I will remove the filter.) This works for me; others have their preferences. I liked my D7000 very much and gave it to my daughter (I have other back-up bodies) when I got the 7200 for some of its added features. You have an *excellent* camera; don't let some on this site infect you with "FX fever" in order to get "better photos"- You have a good platform to take great images. I generally use a Sigma 17-70 as a walk around, with an assortment of med-long telephotos and 90 and 105 macros; even a couple of converted old-timers (like a 135 f2.8 that I used with my 35mm Nikon F back in the 60s...) I'll wager you got a good price on your 7000- a heckuva lot better than what I paid some years ago. I'll mildly disagree with Jerry on the cheap lens-end gadgets. I've gotten some very interesting shots with them, even though their optics are somewhat of a joke. Happy shooting, and don't pay exorbitant $$ for lens filters.
