FX lenses work fine on a D7100. I would recommend a 70-200, and start saving for a 24-70.

I have been asked to shoot a small wedding for a couple who can't afford to hire a photographer (pure hobbyiest here). I have a D7100 but am getting the D810 for Christmas. I really do not want to purchase a DX lens. I would like help in deciding which lens to purchase. The only FF lens I have to date is the Nikon AF 50mm 1:1.8 D. I do have a DX 35mm 1:1.8G as well Asa DX AF-S 55-200mm 1.4 - 5.6 G ED. My wide angle being out of the question. Hey folks - be kind please.

I agree with Sherman. Take the high road. Give them the pictures and get your money up front next time.

Just my thoughts as a very amateur photographer, but as someone who worked weddings (church hall and catering ) many years ago and from the kitchen and clean up, I saw a whole lot of very, very strange behavior by people. From my experiences doing weddings as described above, they are simply high tension, weird events. I no longer even attend them as I cannot stand the what I see is a lot of "phoniness". I am happy for folks that choose to marry if that is what they choose to do, but weddings in my opinion are simply for showing off.

If you can afford to do so, produce the photos for them and give them the package as your wedding gift to them. Then walk away from what you believed to be a friendship, because it appears it was not one.

Stay professional on your end, do the job you were hired to do and no more. I am really sorry this happened to you, but as the wise man once said "you pay for your education" and often that is not in a classroom.
Best of Luck!

Nope. In many states, including mine, libeling ones professional competence is strict liability, and damages need not be proven. True, truth is a complete defense. As a practical matter, there's not much there.
JamesCurran wrote:
Nope, nearly impossible.

First, he would have to prove that the criticism is factually wrong. Having a bad opinion of someone isn't enough.

Second (at least under US law), he would have to show damages -- that the criticism actually cost (or lost) him money.

I have a Pelican 1510 which is perfect for air travel and other uses with potential hard knocks. I also love my Pelican mini hard case for my memory cards. Both are built like Ft. Knox. One of the best things about Pelican is the lifetime warranty. I'm on my third wheel set, thanks to pretty constant travel.

Hooray! I finally purchased my D7100 and I am thrilled! I am looking for input on what Pelican case I should get. This kind of investment needs a grade A protective carrying case that can hold the camera, spare battery & telephoto lens. Suggestions?

I think your better course of action is libel.

Someone else's opinion: Beware scammers selling macbooks cheap - $1000 © craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap

(google map) (yahoo map)

I am posting here because I do not want what happened to me to happen to anybody else. I seen an advertising on here for a macbook pro retina for $1000. It seemed to good to be true. I replied to the add and someone replied with a link to a website. The website was for stampedemobile.net. It was a scam it seems legit but was not. They took my money via paypal and they never delivered the laptops. I have recently seen it advertised here again and this time with another website www.CvvMerchant.net. DO NOT BUY FROM ANY OF THESE WEBSITES. I REPORTED THEM TO EVERY AGENCY I COULD BUT NOTHING WILL PROBABLY BE DONE.

THANK YOU
DENISE

I have just become aware of a dealer called CVVMERCHANT.NET They have prices that look too good to be true. I spoke with the owner on the phone yesterday and he seemed credible, but I still have concerns because I am sceptical sort of guy. If it is a real place I am going to sell my D300s and D700 bodies and get a D800e. Thanks UHH people.

Best way to handle demanding clients. Demand more money for everything they demand beyond what the contract calls for. ie: "Changing booth? Sure! That's only $500 more."

I have a question and I wanted to know if anyone else has ever had this problem. I have a client that I am shooting a wedding for and she keeps asking me if I have something because so and so's photographer had it? or
will you be using such and such piece of equipment? Like tonight she asked me if I had a portable changing booth for engagement photos. I didnt even knew there was such a thing. I have never had a client like this before. I dont know if I am going to be able to deal with her, her wedding is in just under a year and we have engagement photos to get through, her maid of honor has hired me to photograph the bridal shower and then I am also going to be shooting family photos of the extended family the day before. How in the world do you deal with demanding clients?

I agree with David, but disagree with those who say take just one body. I travel extensively, and always take two bodies so I can have two lenses mounted and less chance to miss the shot because of the wrong lens on the camera.

True, it's totally fun when the picture comes out right. Start with shutter priority set to 1/125th of a second. I have done many cycling races where the wheels are motion blurred and the rider is in sharp focus. I think there are some posted on my website. quote=Indi]Yes, and another thing I should try (I forgot the term) is when you keep the camera on the moving subject and the background blurs.[/quote]

I apologize for my misguided thinking that this forum was to help the experienced of us help out the potentially talented improve their photography!

Not trying to come down on you. I just know how it is the first time I go someplace with a new camera. I get so involved in just shooting the pictures that unless it is some glaring problem I don't think about all the other things I can do with the camera till I get home and see the pictures on my computer.

I would suspect that just being able to take pictures at the races was more a fun thing than a technical thing. It is also only a 60 days from new camera a little slack should be allowed.

Indi, good shots. Keep shooting.

Maybe, but not always. The best way, if your camera is capable, is to use the preset white balance setting. ie: choose preset WB, shoot something white, and the v=camera will make the adjustment. Otherwise, arrive early and take some test shots at various WB settings until it's right.

Hi. Try experimenting with your aperture settings. A wider aperture would soften the "Super Saturday" and "Longines" advertising. Nice job, though!
