Buy Darrell Young's book mastering the d7100. It opens a whole new world of knowledge about the 7100. I learned things about the camera I couldn't find in the manual.
Taken on Tuesday morning during the eclipse.
I have read 4 not including the manual. The easiest to follow and most comprehensive in my opinion is mastering the d7100 by Darrell Young.
The "S" lens is faster and designated as their sports lens. Both were announced neither have a price yet.
Trigger trap has the same thing with more features and less money or you can use a Samsung galaxy s5 and do it wirelessly with a free app if your camera has an ir sensor my d7100 has two sensors one front and back.
Sigma 120-300 2.8, 1.4 tc on an apc d7100. Pushing 700mm or can have a great 2.8 lens at 300.
One thing to keep in mind no one makes a bad camera. Some have more or better features. I've got a D7100 and a Sigma 120-300 2.8 I love them both total cost about $4500.00 and guess what I can take some of the crappiest pictures you have ever seen. From your statement about taking a class, that is a great idea but maybe you need to take a class from someone else. I don't know a thing about your camera but I'm sure when it was built it wasn't designed to take bad pictures, it could be the situation your using it in or it could be you weren't taught correctly..
I have a universal ir remote with no codes to set. The d7100 has a receiver on the front and back not sure of the others.

What would anyone suggest as the best lens for sports photography-high school basketball and football. I have a D7100 nikon camera.
I've got a sigma 120-300 2.8 it is fantastic on the D7100. Great for football, baseball and lacrosse might be a little much for basketball it is a beast in size.
Except save a bunch of money

You forgot to mention what camera it is for!
First two words. For Nikon
Google Mike Moats. He is a professional macro photographer. He uses a D7000 with a tamron 18-270. Through him you can buy it for about $350.00. He posted it on his Facebook page yesterday.
Great shots! You should turn it into a movie! LOL
Great series of shots. water drops are fun to work with you can think larger attaches is one I did.
