If you are look'in towards the 80D, you may want to wait like 6 months of so- Canon Rumors have said that a totally new completely changed new version of the 80 will be coming out!! I'd wait- heck your camera works - right??

On top of all else- don't spend your $$$ on a 1.4 converter- your 150-600 is perfect!! You probably will take some side cruses for whales etc-

I have this lens and have used it for video- works and shoots great- yes a bit tight new, but has loosened up a bit- I had no problem zooming in video- not jerky at all. I'm on the "Old Fart" side and not particularly strong, so that has nothing to do with my experience!! Takes great photos- I don't use my 100-400 much anymore unless I'm on a special shoot. I believe it to be the cat's meow!! And what range!!

Just remember, "You get what you pay for"!! Why buy an expensive camera and put a junk filter in front?? B&W, or Hoya are two of the best out there- Pay the price and you will be happy!!

A rubber lens hood placed right up against the glass will be the best option(in my opinion) and if needed, if you are at an angle, tape the hood to the glass for no light leaks. A Polarizer may cut down on the light and cut your lightning brightness down. Another option is to use a camera raincoat, and a remote shutter release. Leave the camera outside and you can shoot from inside! The problem with a raincoat is the clear front or the lens will get water spots on. You would have to be out and continually wipe the front- Option three- Get a rain coat(sorry!). I shoot outside with two cameras as the lightning is "Always" over "There"!!

I'm with MURRAY BASS- I have used all the above and carried xtra lenses(which is a pain) and finally purchased a 18-400 Tamron!! What a beauty!! I have blown up photos to 13 X19 after cropping( I have a 7D MK II) and the pictures are super clear!! Yes there is a comprise fact of a small sensor but it covers the whole gamut!!!

Unless you sell all your "Stuff" on Ebay, you will take a bath!! Make your choice wisely!!! You will not get a better lens than what you have however if you want to switch that is a different story but a huge cost!

I think you basically answered your own question- If you have calibrated your monitor and all that- what you get on your screen will be printed at that density - right? Now if in Photoshop or Light Room thru the "Exposure or any of the other sliders lighten the photo as you see it- it will print lighter- right? You are doing the processing, correct- so you make it to your liking before you print it! Just as burkphoto said it in the reply before me- Do you need a tutorial on Light Room ??

For slides, the best resolution for scanning is 3200 dpi- that is if you ever want to make a decent size print or use that file for any reason. Any lower will give you problems if you go over a 4x6 print or decide to show the file other than on a TV. TVs and monitors only need 72 dpi to show and it looks great- but don't be fooled by this as the slides keep fading as time goes on so spend the time to do it correctly the first time!!!! Now for prints(Just in case you wish to do some) Any photo that are 3.5 x 5 or smaller you need 800 dpi. Any photo 4x6 or larger(up to 8.5x11) you only need to scan @ 600dpi. To go any higher in the resolution for photos is a waste of time. NOTE:The higher the dpi the longer the scan. On the Epson V700 which does 12 slides at at time, takes approx 20 minutes per batch to scan. It is a good idea to have your slides stacked in an order that represents the time and place of the photos, so you can input that information into the file name thru the software. This way, when you scan "Jimmy's Birthday" you can put "Jimmy's Birthday" into the file name, and so forth changing the file name for each batch of slides you do. If you set up the software correctly, each time you go to do the final scan(not the preview scan) the box will pop up asking for a file name which you can change with each batch-

Two of us researched this problem two years ago for our club(800 strong) and found the 4K TVs offer a super picture. You do not need anything special in monitors or computers- do your best to produce a great JPEG photo. Make sure your photo on its longest side is over 2000 pixels so it will fill the screen. Tiffs, or Raw files will not show on the Samsung 4K TVs. You do not need to post process on the 4K TV as I mentioned, just do your best on your computer and the best photo will show up great on the TV.s. Our group purchased a second Samsung for our classes as the pictures are so good. Great For video also!! We have two 75" TVs and the photos shown will blow you out of your seat!! Good luck!

It was mentioned that you cannot use a gimbal head with the "camera body" and you need need to have a long lens foot mounted on the gimbal head- you can do this if you also purchase a long camera rail mount for just a few bucks- Also, make sure if you do purchase a gimbal head, you inquire as to it having "Ball or Needle bearings and "not sleeve" bearings as some less expensive models have. Again, you get what you pay for!!! I have the Sigma 100-400 and use a gimbal head with the camera body mounted on a long rail mount(6-8") to get the body back and away from the gimbal head arm and also for better balance. That long rail was only about 10-15 bucks more. Works great!

I just got back from a photo shoot and found that by having 2 cameras, I "DID NOT" miss a shot. No way would I have gotten some of my shots with having to change lenses!! I used a belt clip for one camera and a neck strap for the second one- this way, when I need the belted camera I could drop the neck strap camera and use the other one- I'm sure you get the point- There are many ways to use two cameras and you will need to figure what works for you. I had a long lens on one camera, and th eother camera had an overall lens. Tamron came out with the 18-400 lens which is a all in one however- depending on how critical you are on sharpness this may not be the best choice. I know some folks say it it pretty darn good however Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you get my drift- I'm not knocking this lens but it is not the sharpest kid on the block-It is a pretty good lens tho for an over all lens.

I have used White Wall- they are also very good!! ***Just be sure to read the fine print!!*** Some companies offer only a dull matte finish, some offer both matte and glossy- I took a chance on a Groupon printing outfit and and received a Matte finish which looks dull! I did not read this was their only choice. I have also used Adorama and have a wonderful Milky Way shot bright as all get out- Came out really great! A sunset should come out super on a metal glossy print!

As already mentioned- If you do not make the file name start with 3 places(yes 3 places) like 001, 002 ,003 , and so forth - the computer will NOT PLAY THEM IN ORDER!!!! So rename all your files with this format!! Otherwise, the computer will show them in alphabetical order of the names.
