Alandg46, these are great images! The time of day you were shooting (10:00AM--2:00PM?) and the bright sun really bring out the gorgeous color in these birds. Also, that you had the good fortune to be visited by Toms all decked out in their finest was remarkable. I live in San Angelo, and a flock of ten birds occasionally stroll through our neighborhood; however, it's usually during early AM, or during overcast days, or in deep shade (Our street is named "Shady Hill" for a reason!). Images similar to yours are what one day I hope to capture. Well done!!

Jim, I own the Canon 6D, a full-frame camera, and in my photography, I find it indispensable. I do a lot of low-light work for our church, as well as shooting entertainment groups, also in low light. In addition, I shoot programs for a retired teachers organization, and all of that is done in low light conditions. Finally, I take photos for a dinner club group which meets at night in a restaurant (three guesses!) with the worst lighting of all. I prefer to shoot without flash, as I take a lot of shots in all of these arenas, and a flash would be distracting. For years my ASP-C sensor camera of choice has been a Canon 7D, not noted for its high ISO noise-free performance. I'm planning to update very soon with a Canon EOS 80D, which has much improved high ISO/low light performance; however, still not in a league with my full frame 6D. Bottom line--if you do a lot of low light work without flash, you just can't beat a full frame camera. Good luck!

Jim, your relevant question may have gotten overlooked by many of us who "quick scan" the commentaries. I, too, am a 74-ish hobby photographer who shoots Canons. I hope some of our EOS-1DX Mark II users will respond to your end-of-comment question, as I would like to know what they think of that top-tier Canon top-tier.

What a fantastic hand-held moon shot! Don't see how it could be improved, even with a high-dollar SLR. Well done.
