Been reading this site for quite a while but never got in to join it. Well now I have. 75 here - retired, just enjoying retirement. Been hobby photographer for probably 60 years, started with a little "brownie" and had many various cameras since. While serving in the Air Force in the early 60's in Germany in addition to my regular job as a guided missile technician, I also operated the Photo Hobby shop on the base at Hahn, Germany. Did a lot of training on how to develop and print pictures and also served as photo director on various sponsored trips around Europe. Back to today - over the last 15 years I have had a great job as the main game photographer for a local Professional hockey team (Knoxville Ice Bears). Currently use a Canon 7D MII and very happy with it. However also considering trying a Canon EOS-1D X Mark II. I know it is much more expensive, but think it might be a great camera to give a try. Have had 6 previous Canon cameras and been very happy with all of them, just thinking about a new toy! Other than hockey photographer also do a lot of photography in the local mountains which I truly enjoy. My question is - what type of opinions do you all have regarding the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II?
Hope to hear from everyone. (Personal web site:

From one Jim to another, welcome to UHH. Show us your stuff.
Welcome from just up I-81 (Abingdon, VA). I know the joys of the mountains. I play with a Nikon body and lenses, so can be no help with your equipment question. Hope to see some of your pix.
You can see my hockey pictures at
www.wknox.net - also a few pictures from a Germany trip at the bottom of that page.

Jim, your relevant question may have gotten overlooked by many of us who "quick scan" the commentaries. I, too, am a 74-ish hobby photographer who shoots Canons. I hope some of our EOS-1DX Mark II users will respond to your end-of-comment question, as I would like to know what they think of that top-tier Canon top-tier.
