An amazing set Victor! What a fortuitous series of events! Well done my friend. >i< Doc
Thank you Tony! I was tracking a lone darner this morning and a frog got it too. It was flying back & forth low over the water & was very hard to focus on. Too many frogs, not enough dragons.
Black saddlebags Tramea lacerata (male) The only one I've seen here this season. --------- Flame skimmer (male) Libellula saturata ---------- A well camouflaged Variegated meadowhawk Sympetrum corruptum Also one of the few meadowhawks this season and the only variegated. ---------- The last is a striped meadowhawk hiding in the blackberry shadows S.pallipes Usually very common here, this year only a few.
I took a series of the skimmer ovipositing while the male flew overhead. Realized my shutter speed was a little slow and doubled it just in time. Should have gone to a higher speed, but I'm happy with the results. Those damn bull frogs have dropped the odonate population here to a bare minimum. This was a small frog in the grand scheme of bull frogdom.
