I reviewed this issue and ended up purchasing the Reiken Focal system. I did have some difficulty at first with set up, but once past that, calibration went nicely. I have not repeated the tests again so not sure if the same combos are repeatable. I was suprised at the results for some of the lenses. Nikon D850; 16-35; 24-70; 70-200; 80-400; TE 2.0 with 70-200; 200mm MicroN. I needed to communicate with Reiken at beginning and the correspondence was timely and helpful. I sent results of my equipment and their feedback said the consistency was good and results should be quite accurate.

Jack Renner. Really enjoyed the Telarc recordings and have many of them yet. From that era, my Denon POA-3000 Amplifier just died (one channel), pushing Klipsch corner horns and Belle Klipsch center channel. Yep, I definitely heard the Bass drum-heard around the world”. Thanks for the memories. I have heard that there is a clique of aficionados for both the Denon Amps and the Klipsch speakers.

How was the cruise ? Any comments as to it; was worthwhile? I’ve been eyeing a Viking cruise for a while, worried that the commercials on PBS are too good to be true.

Been on two of Viking tours. Grand European and Russia. Loved both, and to my wife and I, they go overboard to keep you pleased. Tours excellent with great guides either their own or Local. Opportunities for photography abound but I’m just a “hobbyist” so take that from that standpoint. Advanced photographers may find tours time limiting due to schedules. They are not cheap, in my opinion, but certainly worthwhile. We like them enough to have schedluled two future trips but these two will be with their new ocean cruise line.
I have only posted photos from GET on Flickr:https://www.flickr.com/photos/137920222@N04/. This will give you, I believe, the photostream but Albums will be available from there where you can find the cities (albums from the tour). Of course as per usual, best viewed in large screen and also comments welcomed.

I own Luminar now and find myself using it more and more. Presently however, I start in PS (ACR), then open to Luminar from PS. To me it does a beautiful job but seems somewhat slow (L18) but not all that frustrating so far. iMac late 2014 5K ret display 27”,4 GHz Intel Core i7, Ram 32GB.

I started with Nikon back in the 60's when a friend in the service brought one back purchased while he was visiting East. Of course I slowly picked up additional Nikkor lenses so was commited to the brand. The only camera that I ever sent in because of a camera issue was a D70s, and it was my fault for carrying it attached to a tripod while in a cave; broke the integrated flash. I did own a Canon product (for my wife), for something to fit in her purse. I have never been unhappy with any of my Nikon products and as mentioned, no issues with any of their products. Now that I have related this, something will probably happen. I have heard that Canon menue's are easier to navigate. Review's of the Nikon products that I own have been good using DXO as a guideline.

I like both. I definitely think B/W works since it reflects the age of the unit (vintage). The color works well with comparable colors of the metal, rust, and area.

Datacolor Spyder4Pro S4P100 Colorimeter for Display Calibration if that's all you need. It comes with software, and updates are posted on the Datacolor web site from time to time.

There's a sensor puck you mount on the screen to read color patches that the software displays on the screen. This helps you calibrate the display. Then the software reads R,G,B, and gray (R+B+G) "ramps" or "scales" and calculates an ICC profile from the feedback through the puck.

Similar tools are available from XRITE and others.

I probably should mention that printer and paper manufacturers tend to publish generic profiles for their printers and papers. They work pretty well, although if you have the time, knowledge, stamina, and patience, you can make better ones yourself.
