Last year we got 77.08", 2017 was 54.15" and 8.8" for 2019 it's very green here
I got 3.17" at our house at 3850ft
We finally went to the summit to check our site, this was the entrance and our laser ranging site. 40 power poles are down, power lines are missing, it was quite a storm
actually I realized that this was possible onthe way to work (at the observatory) I only had a 24-120 and 80-400 zoom, just wanted to get a photo of the partially eclipsed moon near the shadow of Haleakala as an additional selection for a magazine article about Haleakala Observatory. I never shot a big pano before so a bit of Google and then to the top of a clear view building to work out spacing at 27mm and luck was with me. My friend Cindy came up w/ her Sony a6000 and automatically cranked off a series of frames and the camera stitched them together, she too learned that she could do that earlier in the day.

This is a 4 frame stitch of yesterdays eclipse taken at Haleakala Observatory on Maui Both eclipsed moon and setting sun are seen in this 'selenehelion'
A 4 frame stitch showing an eclipsing moon and setting sun, a selenehelion. The eclipsing moon is seen above the shadow of Haleakala here on Maui
I live on the side of a dormant volcano waiting for a tropical storm to dump rain (TS Olivia). Its beautiful, tropical and lush and its home!!
Take the zooms only, enjoy Hawaii !!

you'l want the tripod and wedge to do astrophotography I'd also suggest the Vixen 2" Flip Mirror Diagonal, it helps to locate and frame your target

Hey, I'm there w/ you. Snowball fights, climbing trees, no special gear. My grand daughters (2= and 7+) come up to our place w/ the cousins and we tell then to take the dog and go up the mountain. A while later they come tearing down, yelling and carrying on off to the swings and trampoline having a ball. They then take off to the lower forest to play and explore, they fall, get cuts, no worries. When our 2+ grand daughter had to go home she was crying and saying , I dont want to go home. I think they had a ball. No electronic toys, just trees, grass and some stones, the way I/we grew up using our imagination, not needing to be protected against everything.
AND yes, we need to get our guns here controlled and not goverened by special interests. I would hate to lose a grand daughter or grandson (in Colorado near some of the shootings there) This is nuts, our president is nuts, where is his common decent sense?????
And that's for all the laughs you publish, it does make my day better.
Aloha from Maui

my late cat Cheetah loved trees
I just fell into photography but do recognize that I had an interest since I was ten. My major was in science, started working in the electron microscope lab doing plates and printing, assisted for a while, worked at Surfer Magazine, other magazines, now I work for UHawaii Institute for Astronomy

I've read them and still have them, there is no one book that covers it all but maybe a lifetime involved in photography. I liked the Daybooks because when I read them I really related, I was doing what Weston did and I then didn't know who he was. After seeing images I had done, they were similar to Edward Weston and that floored me. I still have my 4x5 and 8x10 gear but shoot digital w/ D810's, D700's and D300's. I do many projects where the cameras are in place for a year at a time, mostly analemmas now

Daybooks by Edward Weston
I'd shave the 1/4-20 stud so if you forget the shim, it still will be tight
