If you will invest in Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Exposure", you might discover a whole new world opened up to you. I was having the same problem as you and now I don't. You can download it from amazon for around $13.00 and it is the best reading investment I have made in a while. Good luck.

I took a photo of a Sanderling. Bright day, Aperture was 5.6, shutter speed 1/1000. Camera was on autofocus. Would the photo have been sharper if I had stopped down to f/8.0? General question is: can aperture improve the sharpness of a photo? This may sound stupid, but I have lapses. I know aperture determines DOF, but sometimes I wonder if it has an effect on sharpness of focus. Enclosing a photo. Thanks in advance.

I did a lot of research when I bought my battery grip. Everything I read made me decide not to venture away from Nikon. My search indicated lots of problems with other brands.

Hmmm... Interesting. It's been so long now I don't even know the brand of the grip I bought, and I just looked at it and found no indication; but I'll keep that in mind. At the moment, I'm mostly trying to figure out why I've held on to the NFG grip. ("NFG" stands for "non-functioning group" of course.)

I have a Nikon D7100. I have a 35 f1.8, 50 f1.8, 18-200 f3.5,105 f2.8G Macro and a 70-200 f2.8 II. I am expecting to add a Nikon 24-70 f2.8 and a Nikon 14-24 f2.8 to round things out. If I could only pick 3 I would choose the 14-24, 24-70 and the 70-200. Have fun.

I am an amateur, all around photographer, who sees images, not just landscapes or portraits, never dealt with macro, just great images, so I am assuming that many amateur photographers fit this description?? Excluding professionals who have certain needs for certain lenses, what four or five lenses do you recommend for amateurs like me? By the way, is the 70~200 2.8 one of these lenses? Thank you so much for your input.

I bought a MB D-15 for my D7100. It came with 2 battery slides. One for AA and one for my standard Nikon battery. They both work great. I set my camera to use the battery in the grip first.

A few years ago I bought an off-brand battery grip for my Nikon D300s. It was a complete bust that drained my batteries within 20 minutes of loading them. The Nikon grip wasn't killer expensive, so I just put the cheapo model on the shelf and bought a Nikon grip. Now I have a D800E, and the Nikon grip, the MB-D12, runs $312 from Amazon. Have any of you bought an off-brand MB-D12, and if so, what was your experience? Does anyone know where there's a better price for the Nikon grip?

Thank you, in advance, for your insights.

That was my aaaha book. I refer to it often. One other book of his you might enjoy is 'Learning to See Creatively'. I have several of his books and they all read the same way.

I agree, it is excellent. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find mine since we moved last year. I am sure as soon as I order another copy, it will appear.

Greetings to you. Welcome to UHH. Someone should be along directly to help you. If not, resend you posting with a heading more directly referring to your question. There are many knowledgeable and experienced photographers that will share with you or you can use the search feature or send a private message to the individual (Canon Fan). Good luck.

I have this lens and I am happy with it as a walk-around lens. I have a D7100 and I also have a Nikon 70-200 f2.8G II, Nikon 105G Macro, 35 f1.8 and a 50 f1.8.

I have learned a lot on UHH and I sincerely appreciate all the help. One person recommended the subject book by Bryan Peterson. Thank you very much because I found it to be outstanding and extremely helpful. If you are a newbie like me I highly suggest you invest in it. He is very clear and easy to understand. I am more excited by photography today than I was 8 months ago when I jumped into dslr. There is hope after all.

I don't know about Australia but in the USA that would be a "gray market" deal. I suggest you visit an established photography store and see what they say about warranties.
