I have learned a lot on UHH and I sincerely appreciate all the help. One person recommended the subject book by Bryan Peterson. Thank you very much because I found it to be outstanding and extremely helpful. If you are a newbie like me I highly suggest you invest in it. He is very clear and easy to understand. I am more excited by photography today than I was 8 months ago when I jumped into dslr. There is hope after all.

Me too, well written and easy to follow
I agree, an excellent book.
How neat that you found a good source to help learn the tools of this joyous hobby!

I agree, it is excellent. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find mine since we moved last year. I am sure as soon as I order another copy, it will appear.
That was my aaaha book. I refer to it often. One other book of his you might enjoy is 'Learning to See Creatively'. I have several of his books and they all read the same way.
I have found some photography instruction books that are more informative and better written than Bryan's..

David Busch---Mastering Digital Photography
Scott Kelby----Digital Photography (Set of 3)
Lonely Planet--Guide To Travel Photography
There are many more..
Tony Northrup's "How to Create Stunning Digital Photography" has really helped me. Available on Kindle for about $10, $20 for the real book. Kindle edition is better IMHO because it has links to private Youtube video tutorials on each facet of digital photography he is teaching and he keeps updating the book. Updates are free forever. He covers all the basics plus chapters on each type of photography like landscapes, portraits, HDR, light painting and on and on it goes. Really helped me get up to speed. He's a Canon guy, but it was good for this Nikon guy. Search for him on Youtube to see his training style. Book is very readable, I keep going back to it as I expand my horizons.
