I originally posted this in the Photo Analysis section - it was moved to this group by the admin. Thank you to all for your comments; I'm going with No Sky. If you'd like to see where it is, go to my website ... Photographer52.com > Browse to Travel, then to Patagonia & Easter Island.

Nice capture. Seems that there is always more than one photographer to capture famous sites at a given time.

We were all in the same group of 6 people on a trip.

122 shots of 30 seconds each. Starstax was used to merge them.

Easter Island - I just started the culling and editing of those shots; here are two, probably my best. Obviously the second shot required some setting up ... and time. We had special permission to be in the park before opening. It was taken around midnight over the period of one hour. The moai (pronounced Moe Eye) were lit with a high powered hand held lamp and took 1 minute to do all 15.

Puma, Mountain Lion, same animal different location! I would love to see a photo of the Fox!

Here is the fox. The guide spotted it with a pair of binoculars; this photo is heavily cropped.

Great shots! Guanacos, also known as Mountain Lion food!!
Very nice set!!

Actually it would be Puma food. Did not get any Puma shots but did get a set of a Culpeo fox.

Just returned from those places and I think I've come home with the largest number of "Keepers" ever ... not a LARGE number, just larger than usual. I went to learn about landscape photography and everywhere I turned, there was a photo. I hope my photos do justice to what is actually there. Patagonia is also known for the winds in the mountains - sorry, couldn't photograph the wind BUT IT IS THERE! We spent an hour or so with gauchos as they rode passed us for our cameras. The last photo is not of llamas or vicunas, they are guanacos. Easter Island photos coming soon.

This is simply motion blur, not a fast enough shutter speed for panning effects relative to the motion of the plane.

This effect isn't just on the fins, but throughout the images, especially the details in the cowling. It can be also seen in the details around the wheels and the reflections on the tail.

When you solve for the motion blur, the fin images, you illustrated, become very similar.

Attached is image 2 with and without motion blur

They all look about the same to me.
My guess would be a combination of shutter speed and inaccurate panning rate.
I took a shot at doing some quick adjustments to your pic. I hope that you don't mind.
CHG_CANON is one of our resident experts on plane photos. Maybe he will respond?
Best Wishes,

My shots were straight out of the camera. I didn't mind the tweaks except when I do mine, I won't change the color of the wings.

OK I just found a similar movement in the sun glint on the right wheel. I don't think it was physical movement but rather a change in the relative panning speed and the speed of the plane. Whatever caused it ... it was quick.
