Awesome photos, I don't know how you get that many without them killing eachother. Mine always fight and one bird especially sits on top of the feeder and bullies the other birds away. I get at most 4. This is my first year with my feeder, these birds are fun to watch and photograph. Cheryl
Beautiful. I love taking their pictures and recently got a couple on a plant vs. the typical feeder. What equipment do you use for shooting these photos? Cheryl
This is a great series of photos. I've never been to a rodeo, now I'd like to go. They are great! Cheryl
Aww, this photo is so cute! So, can you tell me, what photo won? And what was the age grou? Cheryl
I have never seen a fire truck like this, it is so awesome. Thanks for posting. Cheryl
I have used the metallic paper for County Fair photos and won several awards. Some photos don't look good on that type of paper, but I think yours would benefit from it. I love this little bird, we don't have them here in Indiana. Let me clarify, not that type...we have the Ruby Throated. At my fair, we had to print the images 11 x 14 and put on adhesive backed plastic board and write the name of photo, category, you name, age on back. I might say only if you want, I'd clone out the tanish branch on the right side of the photo. But, that is only my opinion and sometimes the photos can not be touched up for a contest. Anyway, beautiful bird. Good luck, Cheryl
Erv, nice photos, but I hate those things. When I'd walk in my dad's field, I'd come home with them all over my socks and the bottom of my pants. Guess who had to take everyone of them off, prickly, sticky -- hated them. Then after you'd wash the socks, those stinkin' things would still be on the socks...lol Long story...good capture. Cheryl

I love this! Here's some flash back to my youth photos, one is of a drip candle I made when I was 13 yrs. old in my parents' basement...while sitting on a bean bag chair, incense burning...lol. Well, I'll just post 8-)

I love the last one the best. Really hungry little bird, nose dive -- head first into the nectar. Too cute! Cheryl

It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started. During a visit to a mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criteria was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup ?
"No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

Aww, my dad used to say this! Thanks for sharing, it reminded me of him! Cheryl :D
For me, I would choose the color because it seems that you can see more details then the b/w photo. I agree that you might try an HDR effect on it. Cheryl (P.S. I like your avatar photo, cool picture.)
These are lovely photos. I love the bird photos, especially your Hummingbird photos. Cheryl
Hi: First let me say, I love the subject as I am a cat person! My favorite is #1. I have entered our county fair and a few other shows, my cat photo had chopped off the tip of my cat's ear...I hadn't really thought about it. They said I would have gotten first place instead of second. So, I'd say be careful not to chop off the tail if you are going for a full body shot, focus on the eyes. I'd say in #2, maybe make the eyes pop a bit more. Good luck to you, it is a fun experience. Do the judges give you feedback? I have had some contests where the judges don't tell you a thing to improve, I don't like that. I mean if I didn't get any awards, please tell me how to improve. Cheryl
Yes, I really like the first one the best. Good job. Cheryl
I love these. I just posted a couple of my little birds who fight all the time. I even saw a little peck mark on the chest of my girl. They can be mean! Still like photographing them. You did a nice job! Cheryl
