I think regardless of the image of you with the striped shirt, the picture itself lacks contrast. Viewers would notice that first before looking in the cats eyes for your image.

Hi Horseyone,
Were you looking for tips for how to improve taking the photo OR how to improve this photo with post processing?
If it is in the post processing step, I have photo elements 4.
Because you supplied the 'download' version I took the liberty of playing with your photo. I downloaded #2 photo and edited the photo using levels. It totally washed out the background. It lifted the "fog" from the cats face and the reflection in the cats eyes was much sharper as well.
Now, I am unsure of the protocol?? Do I post my version back to you?

the whole point of picture #2 was me reflected in his eyes... i guess i missed the mark, thanks so much for answering!!!
