Ok Let me explain, have oodles of RAW and JPEG files stored on external hard drives, CDs, DVDs, you get the picture :D Anyways how many go back 7 years ago looking up a photo that was great in your eyes then but is now crap and wish you had never kept it.?

Guess my point is as time goes on are we at the pinnacle of digital photos or will the Camera tycoons yet suck everybody in again?

Let me respond by asking you a question. How many times have you gone back 7 years and found a photo of something or somebody that is gone, and you are so glad that you happened to save what was, at that time, just another snapshot?

How much is it costing you to save even the 'crap' images? Virtually nothing.
What I do is save all but the total 'crap' i.e. out of focus and the like. I'm leaving it to someone else to scrap them after I've shed this mortal coil. It'll give the buggers something to do and just maybe they will be glad I kept those images of family/friends & places that no longer exist.

I'm fighting the same battle right now, Jerry, with ControlMyNikon. They say I can update for free. All I have to do is use my original "product key". :( :(

This works real well for me when I need to wipe and rebuild a PC and be sure I use the right magic numbers for Office, Adobe, Etc... :

Thank you for the help, Rocket. I tried that one (got it from Kim Komando) but no luck.

will let you d/l either a free copy of 'keyfinder' or pay 10 euros for the full version.
I use the free version and was amazed just how many serial numbers I've put into this machine over the last couple of years.

Without us, they'd be a generation or two behind in technology.[/quote]

Aye, just like putting the first man-made object into space (Sputnik October 1957) - The first man into space (Yuri Gagarin April 12 1961) not to mention the first man-made object to land on (hit) the moon (Luna 2, 14 Sept 1959) or the first woman into space (cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, just 20 years & 2 days before Sally Ride). Valentina, by the way, married another cosmonaut Andrian Nikolayev, they had a daughter, Elena, born 1964 who was the first child on earth to a mother and father who had both traveled in space.
Neil may have been the first man on the moon, a great triumph, but don't forget (or try to rewrite) the history of space exploration.
Many Americans still think the monies given to NASA and other space projects today would be better spent on the needs of USA.
Maybe Russia thought the same and decided to leave space until they needed it.

Then again the horse could be thinking "Stuff that for a lark, I'm going back indoors till spring"
Agree with comments of the vignette - wee bit to heavy.
But three great shots non-the-less.

Really good B/W -
Pop over to topazlabs.com and d/l their free 30 day trial of B/W plugin (also runs itself) just to see how many variations there are on the B/W theme.
Enjoy

Photographing people you may need a release form -
Photographing swans - that release form comes in the shape of food.

As a Scot I'm getting a bit fed up with the rants & raves of guns on this forum.
What people outside the US should get into their heads is the gun culture of America.
It is their chosen way of life, has been since the late 1700's.
It won't change no matter how many innocents are shot/killed.
Banning guns in the US is not the same as banning foxhunting (UK) or bullfighting (Spain)
In the UK tighter guns laws came into being easily because the average person did not own a gun and saw no reason (in this country at least) to own one.
Even after Dunblane, there has been firearm incidents so it's not perfect by any means.

Whether most Americans own a gun or do not is their right, immaterial what interpretation is made of their 2nd amendment.
This is fact and nothing more - All this name calling just get peoples backs up and insults fly back and forth.

Bottom line - Americans have the right to live as they wish, just as we in the UK, Canada, Australia and elsewhere on this planet do and accept the consequences that come with those rights.

Like yourself I regard myself as a “photo enthusiast, not a photographer” and so why not use the settings you have on the dial like 'A' - 'S' and even 'Auto' when appropriate!.
I met a "photographer" a few month back who started spouting on about the merits of only using manual settings for the best pictures and basically demeaning those who used any other camera setting.
I saw his car and asked why he drove an automatic instead of a gear-stick (shift US ;-))as with an automatic he was not getting a full experience of driving and has less control of the vehicle in bad road conditions - This comparison kinda went over his head - so I left..
Bottom line is use the tools in a way you are comfortable with and unless you say what your settings were, nobody is going to be any the wiser most of the time.
