It's only rock n roll and I like it! Great shots! I really like 3 and on 4 I like the green light and how large that guitar looks but the mic is very distracting. I'd be tempted to crop... Super photos and enjoy while working!

Hmm, I think you're right (gets out the crop tool...)

I just wish I had more light to work with. There's simply no room to get a couple of T-bars in or a box truss on a ground support rig. I have, however, persuaded the event's LD to bring a couple of extra moving lights for next time and use them to bounce off the roof. Might give me a couple of additional stops to work with.

Thanks for the comments :D

 :)

Thanks Brenda :D

I was surprised at the quality of the musicianship. It's great to see a bunch of youngsters really dedicated to their art.

On about the first decent day we've had this year, I took the opportunity of shooting this HDR panorama. I've identified six locations around the marina that are perfect for doing panos so I'm planning on spending the day down there waiting for the light to be in the right place.

Not that I mind spending a day shooting especially as there's a couple of decent pubs that serve real ale. Bonus, really :D

What fun! Photos like these will evoke powerful memories in the future. I look back at pics of my kids—all now teenagers—when they were younger and what seemed mundane at the time brings those times flooding back.

Can't have enough pics like these :D

Very nice, professional looking site. The member slide shows interface was especially nice, I liked the panning effect. I wasn't going to comment on this but see that dpullum also was looking for the navigation buttons at the top of the home page instead of the bottom.

Thank you :)

The menu choice was very deliberate: I wanted to keep the top of the pages as clean as possible and also to keep the menu visible no matter where you had scrolled to in the page.

It was done in a studio. One of our local outfits is near an animal park and so we arranged for a handler to come in with a few choice specimens.

They were close enough to touch. Indeed, they quite liked being stroked.

Something I haven't done for a long time is live music photography. My local college hold an event once a month and as I've shot the annual pantomime for the last two years, they invited me along as their official photog.

I have to say it's challenging for a number of reasons. My camera gets grumpy in low light so it's maxed out ISO and shoot two stops under just to get a fighting chance of a halfway decent shutter speed/aperture combo. Plus, due to the vagaries of the venue, there's no front lighting at all.

Still, loads of fun to do even with the shedloads of work in post.

Enjoy and comment as you see fit.

As I mentioned earlier, I've done very little photography over the last few months but I did manage to do a studio shoot with these little charmers.

Enjoy and comment as you see fit.

What with a combination of having to work on a number of extended projects and a truly abysmal few months of weather, I have been away from these forums and really had very little opportunity to take pics.

I have, however, managed a few bits and pieces—which I shall post about later—but in the meanwhile and in amongst a pile of other work, I have been able to finish off the website for my local camera club which, for those of you with an idle few moments to spare might care to peruse our meagre efforts:

It's good to be back :D

Well it's been an insane few weeks, what with moving into a new flat and being dragged out of semi-retirement as TD for a new cabaret show, so opportunities for getting out with the camera have been few and far between. I did, however, manage to get out for a couple of hours on Wednesday to satisfy the urge to bag a few shots.

Enjoy, and comment as you see fit :D

Wow! We have nothing like that down our way, apart from the odd deer and they know how to stay well hidden.

Great shots!
