Compact permanent lens cameras do that - not DSLRs.

My 10-100 video lens on my Nikon 1 system V1 does that also Jerry. Retracts when you turn the camera off. But that's one of Nikon's mirrorless cameras.

I agree with the others. Love the photo. You keep using that camera and you will take some awesome shots.

I have been asked to help sell a Canon Zoom Lens EF 100-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 L IS. I looked online, searching for camera shops that buy used products. Note: I'm not trying to sell the lens in this post. I'm asking for a camera company review.

After an inquiry, Adorama contacted me. Instructions: we send a UPS label. Free shipping. We evaluate your lens and offer you 70% of what it's worth. If you decline, we send it back. Free shipping.

This all sounds good until I searched "Adorama Reviews." Not so good.

Will I get paid? Will I get the lens back? It's not mine. I can't afford to lose it or battle to get it back.

I trust the opinions of Hedgehog members more.

What advice can anyone provide?

I have been using Adorama for years. They are a quality company and I have never had a problem with them. Their customer service (Helen) monitors this site and she will weigh in if she finds customer dissatisfaction. I have dealt with her before and she is super.

What's the cheapest SD card I can use in my A6300 for still photography and will it be fast enough if I need to use it for burst mode? I'm advertising free pet photos in my area to help me practice my photography and I think I'm going to need a bunch of SD cards since the response has been more than expected...

MicroCenter has their own store brand and they don't come any cheaper than that. Have never had a problem with Microcenter SD cards. Use them in everything from tablets to cameras.

It is UPS taking shortcuts. I ordered a Nikon D810 from B&H. Their shipping page stated I would have to sign for the package. I tracked the shipping of the order on the UPS site. The UPS site indicated I would have to sign for the delivery. On the day if the delivery, I received an email from UPS that the package was signed for when delivered. I ran to the front porch and found the package set on the top step. I was the only one home and never signed nor was there even a knock at the door. If I have a valuable delivery coming via UPS, I now notify them that I will pick it up at their distribution center.

Same identical thing happened to me. Dropped off at my door.Item was over $1000.00 and UPS notified me it was delivered and signed for. I live in a senior highrise. It was left outside my door and anyone could have taken it. I would have heard a knock at my door so that means they didn't even bother to knock.

Please email me: Helen@adorama.com with more details of the totally outrageous statements you have made - which, were they true, would not have gained us thousands of satisfied customers, nor would we have been on business for over 35 years.

I answered this farcical statement as well Helen.

I understand your anger and frustration here, and would like to assist - however, I will need your order number. Please email me: Helen@adorama.com

Helen Oster has helped me on more than one occasion. She is eminently fair and will not quit until a satisfactory solution is in your hands. You are dealing with just the right person from Adorama now. To answer the post from someone that said Adorama is a rip off company they simply don't know what they are talking about. My interaction with the company has been going on for years and they are a quality company very concerned about customer service. That should be evidenced by Helen interjecting herself into this conversation.

Can you post the shutter count on your D50? After 11 years, it must be up there.

I use the D750, and I love it. I tried Sony mirrorless/compact cameras and went back to Nikon DSLRs.

Read comparisons and specs, and decide what features are important to you.

I also shoot with my D50 DSLR. Unless I need the extra pixels or better low light performance it is the DSLR I grab off the shelf for general use. However my DSLR's have mostly been replaced with my Nikon 1 V1 Camera. I find myself using that most of the time. I am also 75 years old. Perhaps that is the reason I gravitate towards the Nikon 1 system for my main use.

There are more stories on this forum regarding closures of camera stores. Many that have been open for decades. The online ordering of cameras and gear have affected these stores, plus large stores like Best Buy. I have bought two cameras at Best Buy and two at B&H in past years. One being a gift. I suppose I could have gone to a local camera store. I did not.

We are lucky in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to have "National Camera Exchange". They are not Comparable to B&H but they don't pretend to be either. I try to buy locally if I can. My Nikon 1 system I had to buy online but my DSLR's come from National Camera Exchange.

Following our visit to Grand Canyon NP, we continued on to Durango, Colorado. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge RR is based here, and is one of the top tourist railroads in the USA. Their two trains each make a round trip from Durango to Silverton and back daily during summer and fall. They operate on a more limited schedule during the winter months. The trip takes just over 3 hours each way, and with about 2 hours in Silverton, it is an all day excursion. These photos were taken on September 30, 2016. Posting 10 images, hope you enjoy, and comments and questions are welcomed.

Fellow Hoggers, Last year I purchased the lens (USED} and was as happy as a hog in a trough. I had a perfect (for me} walking around lens. It wasn't until lately that I noticed that not only is the zoom stiff, BUT when the camera is pointed downward, the lens moves on its own to the full zoom position. At this juncture, I am at a loss as to what to do. If you have had a similar problem, especially one that had a happy ending, I would appreciate hearing from you. As a reminder, I bought it used. Thanks in advance for your contributions.
