Thank you for putting this out on UHH. I think this is a fabulous idea and I've just signed up. May 15th happens to be my birthday!

I just purchased a Macbook Pro....... I too have an empty bank account. I don't even need to worry about monitor calibration cause I can't even use this d&^% thing! I am going to have to go to Mac school or something. I got it specifically for photo editing and tried to download the trial version of Elements 10 to no avail. I thought Macs were supposed to be easier. yeesh.

Just give yourself some time to get acquainted with your Mac. If you bought it at an Apple store you can take classes on any issue and can go to the Genius Bar for help. When I used a PC there was no place to go for help. You will love your Mac.

Loose the tent! Choose a background that complements the subject at hand and blast away. Try aiming or bouncing light to achieve effects. Make the subject jump out...

Here's a little taste of what I'm talking about just as Lucian Said...

Note: The original file size of this image was 32mg knocked down to 330kb for this forum. Viewing this image cleanly will depend on your display and the color gamut it produces.

Welcome Richie UK. Looking forward to seeing pictures from England. I am also getting away from the "auto" button and shooting more in manual.

Love 2 and 3, but I agree with MT Shooter, looks like you got a little too close to the flower. Maybe pan back a bit and then crop it in post processing to get more detail. Actually looks like some sort of monster! Ekkkkkkkk!

Welcome!

I was walking around my home town this week and walked past this beautiful fragrant bush and as I stopped to smell the flowers I saw it was a pussy willow bush! I had no idea the flowers were so beautiful! (BTW: I took this with my iPhone so the quality isn't as good as if I used my Pentax.)

Your pictures are wonderful! Great detail.

I agree. A darker background would make the flowers pop.

Also the Mac version of Picasa is 3.94 and the PC version is 3.90 which may make them slightly different.

I think the Mac latest has side by side editing and PC does not. Correct me if I am wrong.

I have Lion and also use Picasa. You need to post a question to the Help Forum as to why you can't download it.

I just downloaded the update (I had 3.8 and it went to 3.9) Do the pics from the old version reappear in the new version or do I have to transfer everything over manually?

It will update all your photos. You won't have to do a thing.

Correct me if I am wrong, according to Google, Picasa will cease on 4/19/12.

Picasa isn't going away — it's one of Google’s most popular products. Instead, according to two sources familiar with the matter, Google intends to rename Picasa “Google Photos”.

Google is taking over lots of companies. It looks like Picasa is one of them.

Google has always "owned" Picasa. It is called "Google Picasa".

I'm easily confused. I'm getting Picasa mixed up with Picnik, which is changing.

The story I heard was that Picasso was having a Picnic under the Apple tree, by the Windows of his house, and using his Pad to sketch the Google-eyed ladies of the Farmville neighborhood as they ran away from the Angry Birds.

But, I could be wrong.
