Gotta say thank you to those of you who tutored me along the way to getting closer to capturing good firework images!
The display in the park was part of a performance by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra's renditions of Bach's and Handel's syncopated music. Evidently the fireworks are actuated electronically to be in time with the sounds consequently most times there were multiple firings. Think the second photo was a single shot but there were shots with as many as four firings almost simultaneously. (There was a sustained wind of 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.)

Welcome to the forum from N Hell!
Just found this form a few weeks ago and already the generous help online here has me doing things with my camera that I never thought about much less attempted. (My copy of Elements 18 does good work on my RAW captures.)
Going to read and think about these suggestion for about 7 hours then go out and try again!

Wide F stops with large openings will give you wide fuzzy streaks instead of nice sharp detailed ones
This is exactly what I needed to hear, I was thinking I'd get my f2/8 lens out to be able to clean up the image - ha. Ignorance is rampant here - joining this group and getting great suggestions is even much better than what I had hoped, THANK YOU!
The city parks department conducted a brief fireworks warm-up last night in preparation for the annual fourth of July celebration. Having never attempted to photograph fireworks I read a little, set up the camera on a tripod with remote shutter release, then started twisting knobs and clicking away. I'd really appreciate a comment or more on how to do a better job of setting up the camera. Thank You, Tommy (The final camera settings are below. The only one that seemed good was the focus - in the viewfinder anyway.)
As of this morning nothing has been done; however, someone could have been by to look at it without me seeing them. I went around back where it's located to check on it several hours ago.
Was thinking the photo would be a great “before” shot.

It should be reported now. Maybe save someone being out there in a storm.
Been on the fence about reporting the vegetation on the pole so phoned the power company. The person taking my call said she filled out a trouble report and would suggest sending someone out today to assess the gravity of the situation. Thanks for the push, Tommy
That is the the power grid connection for the largest Presbyterian church in Fort Worth, covers a full city block.
Nature's aesthetic treatment:
Was photographing blue jays this morning and saw this big bird headed downtown where it landed on Cook Children's hospital. A fellow resident in this retirement facility bought if for them several yeas ago and it has been put to very good use.

I just love my job.
Yeah, most of the rest of us have to pay to be on one of those mighty vehicles. A friend drives one too but when in town rides a bicycle. There is a sticker on the bike that says, "my other ride is a locomotive". I've wondered if his locomotive has a similar sticker about his bike?
