Noise has been the only complaint with my RX10m4. I really don’t like to go above 800 if at all possible. But, my keeper rate went up a bunch over my A6k and A77ii. Still, if I manage to get all the options right with either of the two crop sensors those photos will be sharper and give me more capability to crop into other compositions (I find I always seem to want to reach out further than whatever lens I’m using). Bottom line for me though is that I use the RX10m4 99% of the time. Might be time to turn loose of the others.

Fav ranger at a nearby park reported a couple had been coming regularly acting rather odd, he asked what they were looking for they replied "sasquatch" they had spotted one and wanted to document the sighting. I seriously contemplated wearing a ghillie suit to spoof em but in August here in Florida I decided NOT me thanks. In a wildlife management area i might end up with an "ought 6" through my chest tied to the fender of a pickup truck!

The pros in that shoot might not notice you shooting with a lightweight. Would they have objected to a 'heavy'?

That possibility was in the back of my mind it was after all a quasi private affair. When she spotted me her expression was not too happy. She was constantly surrounded by makeup artists dabbing at her body, fluffing her hair. I wondered how many warts could she possibly have to require that much work! They were there for 2 days I was told, about a dozen people, three new vans, SCUBA pros, etc. some one was spending lots of $$$$ and I suspected would be protecting their investment. I didn't go close enough to ask, there was a chilly wind blowing (notice the parkas) and I wanted to get back to the warm car. LOL

Is it just me or do others see a lot noise in the shadows, even in the original, but especially in the cropped image?

There has been a bit more noise than I am comfortable with but everything in photography (in my experience) has its trade offs. Coulda run em through Topaz Denoise but didn't.

This last year my camera gear has seemed a bit heavy and unsteady. My son & two daughters gave me a great Christmas gift, a SONY RX10 iv. Trying it out I wasn't so sure I was ready to trade my "heavies" for it, when I tried to get my favored result in the same way I always have it just wasn'tquite the same. Consulting other owners I was persuaded to let the SONY do its own thing. I'M SOLD! I'm enjoying this amazing gift to the max.
Here is a shot I took at the beach. This group were quite distant but when I got the image home I was able to crop in on the main action. It works for me!

It could be up to six mouths before I use up the roll of film (36 pictures) in the camera.

Container (very old) for shaving soap. Used to employ a wet shaving brush to scrub up some lather to soften the whiskers. Long time ago..

Couple months ago I went to "Circle B Reserve" in Polk County, Florida looking for photo ops. In the past we have been pleased to find Great horned and Barred owls near the visitors center parking lot. Great challenge to see them in the moss draped trees and hear them chatting early and late. Saw no owls this time. Heard no owls either. Wandered over to the building (closed Mondays) looking for macro subjects. There to my horror were numerous rat poison bait boxes all round the foundation and one decomposing rat! No wonder "our" owls are gone! Sad to find that such places allow our wonderful wild things to be poisoned. Common sense is awfully uncommon these days.

Birds seem so joyful at dawn, perhaps we would benefit from a similar view!

Starting in 2016 the amount of screen time occupied by commercials increased dramatically. I strongly suspect that since this was limited/governed by the FCC there has been an executive order (remember them?) removing the limits.
