Not really. My lady is a security supervisor at a large mall. The reason they do not allow photography is purely for security concerns. The guy who looks like he's taking photos of a store front may be a pervert and be taking pictures of kids in the play area. The would be thief may be getting shots to study the best way to get out of there after robbing a store. The terrorist may be studying them to decide what the best place would be to plant the bomb to cause the most deaths. Believe me, they take this very seriously.

In the US, most malls are private property, and most 1st Amendment rights do not apply within their property lines. A commercial space or mall built and/or maintained by a government entity would likely be considered a public space, similar to Main Street in your town.

Since this isn't my work, I didn't think it belonged in any of the galleries.

Thought some here might find these images thought provoking.

Thanks for that link, St3vM. I think I've got a grasp on this "transformative" thing now.

It's like if someone rephotographed Eddie Adams' iconic (and 1969 Pulitzer Prize winning) photo of the Vietnamese General shooting the Viet Cong prisoner in the head and photo-shopped another person's head (maybe Richard Prince's head) on the body of the about to be executed VC.

Sounds "transformative" to me. I wonder if Mr. Prince would agree.

Thanks, dcampbell52. Once again the complexity of law almost defies common sense.

dcampbell52, would you post a link (or two) where I could learn more about the situation you cited? Thanks.

I purchased a Nikon refurb (D5100) package from Cameta last summer. One of the lenses was faulty.

Return and replacement was accomplished with no hassle whatsoever.

I'd buy from them again.

This would be an example of christian tolerance then? It looks like your faith is just a bit too shaky to stand up to negative comments.

This is so obviously not the place for anything remotely based on religion, as this thread is very quickly demonstrating.

Take it somewhere else.

Huey Driver, I would love to see a full screen version of your avatar, which I assume is a UH-1. I developed a deep affection (far beyond respect) for you guys in the mid-sixties when I visited "never" land (I call it there because, according to my DD-214, I was never there!

They earned my respect at the turn of the decade (69-70).

I'm on a relatively tight budget and have been picking up some lenses from the film era for use in digital. Nikon and Pentax seem to have great old glass as far as I can tell, they're about the same as modern pieces less the autofocus. I currently use a Nikon 55mm 2.8 micro, Pentax 24mm 2.8, and a Nikon 70_300mm 2.8. Off brand adapter rings work great with my 7D. Any ideas or lens suggestions?

A lot of those calling Tepper a sneak/sneaky etc. have a location: in hiding.

I'm not what you deserve, but I think your first amendment rights are more important than the chance someone will be offended. I take the unpopular view here. Film your world as you see it.

I heartily agree. Icons of photography such as Diane Arbus, Harry Callahan and Robert Frank would be unknown to us if they had been more concerned about propriety than capturing the image that told the story they wanted to tell.

COI Jack summed it up very well - "Film your world as you see it."
