The 100-400 "II", such as the original poster is using... No problem. Seems to work fine with filters. Mine occasionally gets used with B+W XS-Pro CPL.
That's a "high transmissive" filters, which makes for less light loss than standard CPL. It's probably .75 to 1.5 stops loss (depending upon the setting), instead of the 1.25 to 2.25 stops of a standard type of CPL. Not a huge difference, but sometimes all that's needed is a half stop! (I don't agree with some companies calling these "high transmissive CPL/protect" filters... there's no way I'd leave on on my lens full time! Heck, I won't even do that with a clear or UV that doesn't cost any light lost.)

Thank you for your reply. The B&W XS-Pro is what I purchased. Just received it a couple of days ago. Anxious to try it if the sun ever shines here. Once again thank you for you time and experience.
