Where would be the best place to buy the small screws that fall out of lens mounts and disappear? I've got a Soligor 70-150mm f/3.5 MC with Canon FD mount in good condition, except it's missing two of three screws.

Did you try a camera repair facility?
Sounds like it should be a quick and cheap repair .........

That is a very good question! I also think the Nikons seem to take better photos. The only reason I don't buy Nikon (yet), and I hope no-one takes offense on this comment, is that I read on an animal rescue causes blog that Nikon supports bull dog fighting... How true that is I'm not sure yet, but I'm trying to find out. However, it doesn't change the fact that I also think their DSLRs take better photos. I wonder if anyone has an answer to that. :)

There is NO WAY Nikon would support Bull dog fighting. Forget the legal aspects, to do such a thing would be corporate suicide. People would avoid Nikon like a plague and so would their sponsors. Then when you mix in the legal aspects Nikon would be ruined. No company/corporation would ever want their name synonymous with such a volatile subject. Just my opinion. As far as who takes better photos, Nikon or Canon is subjective. Both are very capable cameras and each has it own pros and cons. Nikon does seem to have a larger piece of the market but that should not prevent you from picking a camera which has the features you want and a price you can afford.

Definitely plan on staying with primes. I will be searching out these older, all metal and built like a tank lens. I actually prefer manual focus. Hard to believe a $100 36 year old lens is superior optically than a new lens but it seems to be true. They are also FX so if and when I ever get a full frame camera I do not have to start the whole lens buying process over. Would be interesting to see how far up the ladder this 200mm F4 can keep up with in terms the latest lens.

Tell me about it. My previous Tamron 18-250 lens was so touchy that if I got it in focus manually it was usually an accident. And yes, a long distance shot, set to infinity, would over focus past infinity. Seems like a bad design to me though this seems to happen on a lot of new lens. Either way it was VERY irritating and a royal PITA!

The green focus light I have founds is NOT 100% reliable. I do much better with my eyes. If I can see it in focus it almost is always in focus. Now for people with bad vision this method may pose a problem. Just make sure if you wear glasses to properly adjust the diopter on the view finder.

FYI, there is no medical office park around the corner from the Whitehouse. There are some references to a “1455 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite 400, Washington DC 20004” address associated with “Overstock Digital” or “OverstockDigital.com” however, I don’t know where this info itself comes from since there is no mention of it on the OverstockDigital website that I can find.

In any event, even if valid, that PA Ave. address is one of several “virtual offices" in the Willard building that anyone can rent (e.g. http://www.davincivirtual.com/loc/us/district-of-columbia/washington-virtual-offices/facility-410 not this outfit’s physical location, wherever that may be :)

Could be a SCAM, you never know. Sell you a camera, taking your money and all you will have is less money. Happens everyday. I am not implying this is the case but you never know. Especially if verification is difficult or impossible. I personally would not chance it. Stay with someone you know. B&H, Adorama ect ..... because there is no reason not to. Unusually low prices are that way for a reason and that reason is usually dubious.

overstocked DIGITAL is not listed as an authorized Canon dealer, Overstocked.com is. I would stay away.

I have been told by a friend that if buy brand new anything Nikon from an unauthorized dealer my warranty is void and I can figure on paying for any repairs myself. They said NEVER by from an unauthorized dealer. Is this true?

On what grounds? If they have no licensing agreement, there is no obligation on Nikon's part to tell Sigma how they changed things.

I agree that no company has be obligation to another when if come to improvements but it is a difference story when a company make a change in such a way with the sole intention of injuring a competitor and preventing competition. I am implying this is what Nikon has deliberately done and a lot of instances what appears to be a malicious act turns out to be nothing more than an accident due to normal improvements. But .... there have been times where companies have tried to engineer a competitor out of business and have paid dearly for the attempt.

Recent articles indicate Nikon has altered their camera software to deliberately preclude the use of Sigma lenses on some Nikon bodies. I don't know which models are affected, or if other third party lenses are included in the design change, but Nikon/Sigma users, and the photo community in general, are pretty upset about the whole thing.

I can just see Sigma suing Nikon over this issue if really true.
Talk about dirty pool ........

Now, if you want to see even better results, get an AF 180mm F2.8 ED Nikkor. I have the 200mm F4 AI & ,like you, loved it. That was until I got the 180mm F2.8 ED Nikkor

Just checked B&H and they have a 180mm 2.8 for $729 brand new
Looks like a nice lens
