I have one setup in a raid box. I just setup Carbonate and it is doing a backup now. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Got a new computer, after moving data from old to new, I removed the hard drive from old and sent the rest to Goodwill. Wondering if data on old drive still exists on this drive? Can I use this drive as a backup in Raid device? This whole backup has me going crazy. Just cannot wrap my head around it, even though I read so much on U-Tube.

I have my LR cat organized by date, and I can find any photo I want. Very neat and easy for me.
what happened was I bought a new computer with win 11.
got everything transferred from old PC without any problems. Then I noticed that files on C: with files pictures, photos. Could not figure why I have all those files. They are all in the cloud and I am out of room. Had to get more storage. I have all my files on back up devices times 3.
Thanks retired CPO, I kind of felt a put down. Not what I was looking for. I will find a way to work through this. Thanks to markngolf I did the d/l and will follow your advice.

If I can view the photo in LR am I able to delete photos found in other places.

I do understand that photos are not stored in LR. I miss stated. When I import photos from memory card I save in LR. Just cannot understand why I have files in many different places.
wish I knew. Some under Pictures, some Pics, and then under photos. How do I know what my camera uses for raw?
I use LR and have all my pics stored in LR catalog. But I have files of photos in may diff places on PC. Some are JPEGS, some are XMP files. What are XMP files? Do I need to keep all those other JPEGS? Looks like I can delete them according to latest post. I have external backups of all my photos. Also how do I know the photos in LR are raw, I do shoot raw.

I have many cameras. and use them all at dif times for dif reasons. My newest Nikon Zfc came with a kit lens. but I want to get a prime for landscapes, street. I take numerous murals, so thinking a wide angle. Any suggestions?
