Is that the new $3,000,000 f/0.95 Sigma lens?

These are stellar chipmunk photographs.

Yes, I am a sucker. I feed the birds, chipmunks, squirrels and every other critter who wanders in my backyard.

D-5008, would you please post some of your flying squirrel images?

It may take me a while to hunt down my flying squirrel images, but here are a couple of images of a Rose-breasted Grosbeak I took in April. First time I have seen them. Had to shoot through a double pane window so not as sharp as I would have liked.

I have some wild flying squirrels that I feed, which have allowed me to photograph them. The strange thing is that the flash does not seem to bother them much at all.

Should we be issuing more 'Darwin Awards' or just let things take care of themselves?

Many years ago while living on Long Island, our tap water from Jamaica Water Supply had enough chlorine to show traces when using a pool water test kit.

Today I have my own well and I don't want to know what's in the water. It tastes good.

FYI Pool test kits are a good way of checking chlorine in drinking water (free and total, using DPD.)
Ref. tasting good - ignorance is bliss.

Really like the high contrast, balance and simplicity of the photograph.

Something that has not been suggested yet is to shoot in jpeg and RAW to start with. This will allow you much greater control when you decide to get into editing. Memory cards are cheap these days and IMHO the only reason not to shoot in RAW is when shooting action shots in continuous mode. In the end you will probably end up just shooting RAW if you enjoy editing. Good luck with your endeavors.

See, that's what happens when you don't use a UV protective filter!

Wouldn't an infra-red blocking filter offer more protection ? ;-)

Has no one heard of color indicating silica gel beads? I keep a fairly large (4"x6") organza gift bag of it in my camera backpack and a smaller size bag in my 70-200mm container. The beads are reusable when the color changes by microwaving or heating in an oven (having removed them from the bag first.)
Examples of the above;

The bags can also be used in a cabinet.
