Still wanted a Dslr ??bought a Canon 77D and have a canon 55-250 STM but now would like more reach Canon 70-300 ?but which one ?? any more 300or 400 ideas ?? Thanks & Cheers Ron

The Canon 70-300mm MII has the latest and fastest Nano USM great for action and Superb for video.

The original 100-400mm L used is going for about $800. Excellent quality IQ and build.
For more reach there is the excellent Tamron 150-600 G2.

going from 250 to 300 . . . you probably won't even see the difference. you'll need something more like 400 or 500 to really see 'more reach' as you say.

I second the recommendations of Architect 1776, above, regarding the Canon 70-300 Mii nano and the Canon 100-400 M1.
In addition, you might want to consider the Tamron 16-300, which has been discussed in another thread on UHH this date. While its focal length is not greatly longer than your Canon 55-250, it has in my opinion performance equal to, or better than, your Canon kit lenses, and would give you the convenience of carrying just one lens rather than two. Sigma also has an 18-300, which I beleve is comparable to the Tamron lens.

I forgot--Tamron also makes an 18-400, but I have no familiarity with that one. It might be something to look at.

It really depends on how much more reach you want. For general purpose, I find the Sigma 18-300 now at $389 to my liking. For a little more reach and general purpose, the Tamron 18-400 or the Canon 100-400 (There are the L and the C). The "L" version 100-400 has better IQ but is heavy. Then there is the 150-600mm zooms by Sigma and Tamron. I chose the Tamron, better than the Sigma C, lighter than the Sigma S. Even using the 150-600, I find there are often times I have to crop to get the magnification I need. The 100-400 and 150-600 are definately NOT light weight.

I recently purchased the Sigma 150-600 lens for use on my Sony A7R 111. It is a big lens.
