I appreciate all the knowledge out there. Thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions.
Wow...very interesting. I didn't know that. I thought I had seen where the new version used 16 bits, but I guess that is only for certain parts of Elements. I can see what you are saying about protecting "big" photoshop...I had not thought of that. Thanks.
Hi. Thanks so much. I had discovered that while trying to access layers, it was greyed out...I figured out that I had to reduce the 16 bit image to 8 to get layers to come in. What is the downside of this? Thanks.
Thank you for your help. I don't want to use Elements 13 Organizer as I'm using LR. When I'm finished editing a picture in Elements can I just Save and bypass the organizer? Will my picture then be automatically transferred back to LR? Thanks.
Hello my friends. I began my photo editing journey using Elements, but purchased LR a couple years ago and switched from a PC to a Mac. I've really enjoyed LR and have been using it almost exclusively because I didn't have Elements on my Mac. When Elements 13 was released recently I decided to install that program on my Mac so I would be able to go back and forth between applications. I can see that there is going to be a learning curve to feeling comfortable doing that. I'm wondering if anyone out there is doing the same thing and if you would feel comfortable having me email you some specific questions as I try to get comfortable with this new process? I really appreciate any help you have to offer. Thanks so much.
Thanks so much. I was thinking that that might be the way to go. I'm going to download the trial version today, I think. I've been using LR so I'll probably need a refresher on Elements. I appreciate you responding.
Thanks, everyone...just wanted to make sure there was going to be a registration code or something on the disc when I pick it up. I love how everyone on the Hog is so helpful. Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to everyone.
Hi friends,
My mom picked up the Elements 13 disc at Costco for me. I don't live near her, but will see her this coming weekend. My question is two-fold: The disc pkg doesn't say whether it is for a Mac or a PC. Is that info on the disc when I start the install? The other bugaboo is that I don't actually have a disc player for my MacBook Air...that little problem just occurred to me after I asked mom to pick Elements up for me. I will have to borrow a disc player, I suppose, to install the product. I suppose it would just be a whole lot easier to download Elements from Adobe, but I was trying to save a little money. You know how that goes! Thanks for the help.
Hi Alan. I don't know where to begin. First of all, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to write such a detailed and thorough response to my question. My goodness! I just had the opportunity to sit down and read through your response...babysitting today for one of the grandkids I love to photograph. I am going to re-read your letter tomorrow and make notes so I can digest all the great info here. Again, thank you and all my other UHH friends for your expertise. I will definitely be putting all your suggestions to use.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my UHH friends from beautiful, but blustery (today) South Dakota.
Thanks so much...I've read the entire article and the comments on your previous post. Wow...very interesting. The "experts" seem to be saying that we should compose a picture and use the existing focus points even though the point may not be the "cross-hair" type. All of this gives me lots to think about. Math was not my best subject, but I can see what you are saying about the change in the plane of focus when I focus and then recompose. I'm so used to focusing and then recomposing while my finger is pressing the shutter button that it may be difficult to try something different, but I'll consider that. I so appreciate everyone responding to my question.
Thanks, Sharpshooter. I'll do some more work to see what I'm doing (or need to...) I'm kind of OCD about wanting sharp eyes...but I also know that I'm not blowing my photos up into billboards either. I appreciate you taking the time to respond...sorry you are working on a Saturday!
Hi. Thank you. I shoot mainly in Manual or AP, but when I try to specify the center point (and push SET) my focus doesn't stay at the center point. Am I missing something? Thanks so much.
Hi Sharpshooter. Thanks for responding. I had heard that BBF was best used for moving subjects so maybe that is not my answer. I do know that the center focus point is the cross-type, but my focus points are jumping around quite a bit...not sure if I need to change a setting or something to keep my center point active. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Thanks, Steve. I love my 6D, too. I have always received great customer service from Canon so I think I'll try the BBF with their help. Seems like it makes sense, although others have said that it takes some getting used to.
