Question about contents of Elements 13 Install disc

Hi friends,
My mom picked up the Elements 13 disc at Costco for me. I don't live near her, but will see her this coming weekend. My question is two-fold: The disc pkg doesn't say whether it is for a Mac or a PC. Is that info on the disc when I start the install? The other bugaboo is that I don't actually have a disc player for my MacBook Air...that little problem just occurred to me after I asked mom to pick Elements up for me. I will have to borrow a disc player, I suppose, to install the product. I suppose it would just be a whole lot easier to download Elements from Adobe, but I was trying to save a little money. You know how that goes! Thanks for the help.

Linda, every copy of elements I've purchased will load on either on a PC or a Mac. It'll recognize your OS and load the proper one. With full version Photoshop you have to purchase either the PC version or the Mac version. Good luck.

Go to OWC.com You should be able to buy a DVD player for around $30 that will work with your Air,

You can download the trial version and activate it with the code on your CD.

Linda, the disk in your box should have both PC and Mac versions included.
To install if you cannot play the disk directly, examine the box or the disk itself, and look for a registration code.
You should be able to download the program from the Adobe website, then use the registration code included in/with the box to get going.

Just as an aside: You can use that registration code only on a Mac or a PC, but NOT on both. You can install PSE on two computers of the same platform, but not on two different platforms.

I am sure that is correct. Lightroom has both Win & Mac on the same Disc. Yes, Photoshop CS6 comes as two different DVD-ROMs

Yes, Apple has been getting all "go cloud everything". A few friends of mine have high end 27" Macs yet the silly machines have no optical drive. So we can't share software even when I have both windows (for my LapTop) and mac versions on a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. One friend paid me to share a Topaz suite since it can be licensed for more than one machine. But since her Mac has no drive she seems to have wasted her money. Once she gets her head together I should just return her money as she does not seem to be able to figure out how to install it from a Thumb Drive (if it can be).

You know, as I remember, I noticed that about Lightroom Lr4 as well. The box was not clear about platform on the outside. But somewhere inside the box or on the instructions it referred to both Mac and Win.

Thanks, everyone...just wanted to make sure there was going to be a registration code or something on the disc when I pick it up. I love how everyone on the Hog is so helpful. Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to everyone.

You can DL the trial version and use the code in the package. BUT as I did with my Air, get the external dvd player/recorder. Its not expensive and very useful. I leave mine at home.

Thanks so much. I was thinking that that might be the way to go. I'm going to download the trial version today, I think. I've been using LR so I'll probably need a refresher on Elements. I appreciate you responding.

The package is for both. I just got my copy of Elements 13 from Costco and it contained two disks, one for PC and one for the Mac. The disks are clearly marked.

Not sure your last paragraph is true. A friend of mine bought and loaded it down using the registration numbers on the box on an iMac and a PC. iMac stays at home and the pc travels for instant photo editing.

Do you mean that he tried to use the same registration number on both the Mac and the PC?
Even though the license says you can install the program on two separate computers, those two computers have to be of the same "flavour."
Since PC and Mac are different "flavours," you have to buy a second license for the "other one."
Clearly stated in the EULA for PSE, LR, PS, etc.; EULA can be found on the Adobe website, and if I remember correctly, you have to agree to it, before PSE will install.

Don't know the particulars specifically but essentially, yes he has Elements loaded on a iMac and a PC and used the same registration. Someone on this thread indicated there are two diskettes one for Mac the other for PC. I'm assuming that is the reason for the ability to have the SW on either device w/o breaking and rules.
