Freakin' absolutely amazing pp work. You are an Artist!! Please post some more of your work.
North of Tampa. Crystal River. Winter home of the manatees. Beautiful clear blue Waters.
I have a Tamron 18-400, love it as an 'all-around.
Nice set, love the last one 'zoomed' in.
I have both and find the 85 hard to use at home indoors as it is to close and I have back up quite a bit, or forget the shot. I love the 85, but if only 1, and in-home shooting, go 50.
We have three. The best one is the Nik 15". A feature I like is the time-on time-off setting. Off at 11 pm on at 7 am. They say this extends the life of the frame as they don't run 24/7.
I bought the tap-in for my 18-400. Could not get it to connect. Returned to B & H for refund. Wasn't 'told' to buy it, but the reasons for buying it sounded ok.
Mid-level hobbyist here, looking for UHH Lightroom users opinions. Landscapes and youth sports are my main shoots. I have been using photo editing software a good while. Started way back with Microsoft 06, and have been thru Elements 11, 15, 18, and 19. After seeing videos on some editing by LR that I could not seem to duplicate on PSE, I decided to try the 7 day trial, which ends this week. So far, my own opinion is that LR outweighs PSE on the 'fix-it' color/light/sharpen editing side, but PS doesnt seem all that advanced over PSE for the other features. Maybe because I have used it for years, PSE seemed easier to use over PS, especially if LR already did the hard part of making a photo better via 'fix-it' color/light/sharpen areas.
I took some photos from my files that were edited with PSE and used LR to improve them still. Was pretty impressed with the lighting and sharpening improvements.
Do the UHH'ers think the LR side is good enough by itself to keep the whole script package based off of your own experiences? If they were still separate software packages, are there UHH'ers that would buy LR and use a lesser priced software for the other non LR features?
Thanks in advance.
First let me thank all that replied, especially Alan for the time it took for that reply, very helpful. The reason for f18, was that I was at a preserve in Florida, and among other things, was hoping to get pics of the eagles and ospreys, who often sit on distant trees from the walking paths. Additionally, the park has a tower that overlooks not only the estuary where the women was, but in the distance (see attached pic) was the Tampa Skyway Bridge (f18 @265mm). I was shooting the bridge when the women appeared out of the mangroves, and amateur as I was, did not think of an aperture change.
Regarding the filter. I was led to believe that having a filter helped 'protect' the lens. Out of the ones suggested, polarizing was one. Since I'm a 'blue sky' guy ;), I went with the polarizing one and basically leave it on all the time. To those more learned, is this not really suggested for the reasons already given?
Thanks all, learning alot.
Still new to the non-auto world, still learning. It was set for aperature priority, so the cam picked the other 2. Polarized filter is always on my lenses. This was shot early in the pic session, and did not remember to rotate it for effect until later. Don't know if it had a positive or negative effect on this pic. The reason for my post is that others on UHH have questioned on the quality of this lens.
For those considering the Tamron 18-400, this is a sample of an image taken at 400mm (AP, 1/640, f18, ISO 1250 auto). The image is the full non-cropped shot from my Canon T7i, with a Polarizing filter. I was pleased with the quality.
Wow, the reflection one rocks.
I haven't read any of the replys, but I am a PSE user, now on 19. At least in 18 & 19, I have yet to click on a 'painting' selection that I thought looked good. Years ago I used Microsoft 2006 software. That used to have a 'canvas' choice, that the results did mimic the current look of photos we put on canvas. I would like PSE to have something similar.
I use 19. While I find it better, it is only a small jump over '18. To those who have later, it can be much better. Most of the new mods is not so much in processing, but more to the artistic features, removing or changing background, special effects etc. I like it a lot.
