Have you tried to export an image ? - that is what broke with Big Sur on. all of their. products.

I was able to do editing with Luminar 3.2 and share the photo using mail. That worked fine. You are 100% correct in that the export function crashes the application all the time in Big Sur.

BTW, just to try it, I ran Luminar 4.3.2 in my iMac with Big Sur and I was able to open photos, edit them, and export them without problems. If you are having problems with your Mac and Luminar 4, then it could be the Mac configuration, but that is my wid guess (??). My iMac is souped up with 40 GB RAM memory and 8GB graphics memory. Hope this information is of help.

Luminar 3 was not updated for Big Sur. They didn't update Luminar 4 and Aurora until about a week after Big Sur came out.

I just ran Luminar 3 on my iMac with Big Sur. No problems at all.

I have installed the new NX in my iMac (Big Sur) without any problems. The new NX app looks much better than the previous version.

Photoshop (bundled with its siblings, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic) is Adobe's image editor. Premiere Pro is Adobe's video editor.

I use Final Cut Pro as my advanced video editor. It is super-fast on the Mac, both because Apple optimizes the hardware and software to work together, and because the workflow is slicker than Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve. But Resolve is also very quick on Apple hardware, while Premiere Pro is still a beta product on the M1 Macs. It does run in emulation (Rosetta 2) on the M1, just slower than those other video editing apps.

There is no Apple-branded software that equates to or competes directly with the Adobe Photography Bundle. However, you can combine Apple Photos with the Raw Power Plug-in and Serif Affinity Photo to do much of what the Adobe suite does. Raw Power and Affinity Photo are available in the Apple App Store.

Now that the RNA vaccines have been approved (and showed 95% efficacy), it will be harder and harder to get new vaccines approved and harder to get volunteers since they may only receive a placebo and the people in the over 65 year age group could be eligible to get one of the RNA vaccines. The peptide vaccine of Novavax just reached the half-way mark:
https://www.novavax.com/covid-19-trial-updates

Johnsons and Johnson is scheduled to release the results from their single dose clinical trial in a week or two.
And the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine, which was approved in the UK but not in the US, is concluding its clinical trials in the US about the same time as J&J and should release their results shortly after that.

Anyone want to offer odds on these 3 new vaccines matching the efficacy of the approved RNA ones?

Unfortunately, the definition of "efficacy" varies from vaccine to vaccine. So you can't just rely on the posted "efficacy rates". Only the J&J vaccine is focused on reducing "severe" symptoms. The other 2 are not. Of course, none of the vaccines prevent the infection.

We're planning a Galapagos/Quito/Macu Pichu trip in 2021(Covid willing) and some weight restrictions apply. If you have some experience with these areas, I would value your opinion: Is a 100mm Macro useful? I'll have a zoom covering the same focal length. And any other suggestions on photographing in these environments are welcome.

I noticed that nobody has mentioned the indian market in the town called pisac (near Cuzco, 20 minutes by car). The Pisac market is great for photography, especially on Saturdays. Don't be surprised to run into a wedding parade in the streets!

I recently attended an on-line Night Photography class by Nikon. Got a lot out of it and recommend the class. The instructor recommended using Nikon’s Capture One over Light Room. He showed pictures (unedited in both cases) imported into both softwares. The Capture One photos looked much better. He claimed LR applied some changes to the photo that Capture didn’t. That surprises me, but the difference in the photo starting out was significant. Thoughts?

I have been using Capture One for Nikon for a few months now. It has grown into my main software editor. Highly recommended. Now I hardly ever use LR or Luminar 3 & 4.

Nice photo!
Nipper, the dog listened to his master's voice. Nipper is sitting on top of his master's coffin. I used to be an engineer at RCA before it was "merged" by GE.

I switched from Aperture to Capture One (v 10) two years ago. Except for the file creation and/or retrieval which is hideous (catalogs vs. sessions vs. God knows what) and way more complex than it needs to be, it is a superb program that allows editing of raw shots well beyond what Aperture could do. The tools and masks available opened up new possibilities. I suspect that the current version does even more. Capture One is not cheap but it will do everything you want and then some.

I agree 100%. Great software, plenty of training videos and webinars and works great in Macs. I stopped using LR and Luminar 3 and 4.

I already have a camerra converted to IR (720 nm filter by LifePixel). Otherwise, I would be purchasing your D800 myself.
