Spike, reading your post I was compelled to make some comments. I do not know the age difference between you and me but in my case I am 82 years old and still learning.......

Thank you! Your reply was not intended for me but it could have been. Thank you for the encouragement.

Agree with the first comment. The BBB has degenerated into nothing more than a “pay a fee” for a good rating “service”. Worthless.
Sounds like the first time the repair order was incorrect. The second time all they had to go on was what was on the first order.

I like the cropped version. Did you like it with a square crop?

Pretty much any laptop with the new i7 cpu, dedicated video gpu, and 16gb of RAM will work fine. A 4K screen is a plus. A solid state drive (SSD) for boot and editing programs is a big plus. I use a Dell G3 and it is speedy and has not caused any problems.

I googled "Best laptops for photo editing 2018," and was surprised to see the Dell XPS 15 rated tops on a couple of sites. This would be the 2018 version with 6-core, i7-8750H mobile processor, 32GB system memory, 4k screen. Does anyone have experience with this laptop that can comment on how it performs using PS and LR? Thanks.

For me it is worth spending more to know I have the correct battery and get the correct readout on the camera.
I did purchase a battery for my 80D on eBay for about half of the retail cost after being assured it was a genuine Canon product. Figured I would roll the dice. Sure enough it is genuine and I cannot tell the difference from the battery I bought at Best Buy for full retail or the one that came with the camera.
As for eBay I think if one is careful to deal with sellers with a good track record and good feedback ratings we can save money.

I am wondering if there are any sources for good, used lenses. I really would love to be able to afford an f2.8 or even f1.8 prime lens or modest zoom 28-175 or so. Is there such a source?? thanks

I did not read all of the responses but I’ll add mine. If you are careful to deal with experienced sellers and only deal with those with an exceptional feedback rating eBay can be a great resource for a lot of things. I have purchased a couple of lenses for about half of the going rate.

My Win10 PCs do that right out of the box, but not my Win8.
Maybe the codec is included in Win10 ?

My photo viewer in Windows 10 displays the .CR2 files on my laptop with no issues.

I think the problem could be a corrupted file.

Try moving file #56 to a different folder and see what happens. That will tell you if you have a corrupt file. It is a definite possibility.

Edit: Sorry. This is in response to the member with an upload issue and is off topic to the OP’s question. I’ll pay attention in the future.
