BLTs with toes included? Mmmmmmm! (You did wash those gourmet BLT&Ts down with a nice Chiante, did you not?)
While I haven't tried this recipe...I wash everything I eat down with bourbon. I even wash orange juice down with bourbon. I'll take that back. I don't eat my lunch at work with bourbon, unless I cooked it in. Anyway, if you like bourbon, get the you know who warehouse named brand (hint: It not only rhymes with Kirkland, it is spelled very similarly).

I have driven and owned Cadillac since 1963. No one made a better vehicle. Ambulances, hearses, flower cars and limousines. Unfortunately there area bunch of liberal nut jobs now running the company and are dragging it downhill fast. Too Bad!
Please keep your unfounded political rants in the Attic. I'm tired of it.

I too made a pact with Satan. Unfortunately, I misread the contract. My portrait keeps getting younger, but I am now a wrinkly old hag and no cremes or potions will make me look young. I reckon I should have read the fine print closer.

This image is very inspirational. Don't let anybody tell you something different. I love candid photos of children doing shit.

Having grown up in Wyoming, I learned pretty quick to be prepared for heavy weather. Back then we didn't have AWD, it was either 4X4 or not. Good tires and chains, appropriate clothing for bad conditions was a must. I had these in the backseat all the time. Not really great for a date, but I could get my guy home. I have a good story about blizzards going to Cheyenne for a time later.

Question - how easy is it to change from Wacom to mouse and vice versa?
I have both my mouse and the Wacom plugged in to usb ports. If the stylus from the Wacom is on the pad the mouse won't work. You have to remove the stylus to use the mouse. I navigate menus with the mouse because that is what I'm used to doing, however. the Wacom can be used instead and I do sometimes.

I have been a serious photography enthusiast for better than sixty years. Bought my first darkroom at twelve, got hold of my first "Real" camera at 15, and have been learning and working on photography ever since. As an adult, acquired the best equipment I could afford and continued to learn. I was a little slow going digital because I was pretty happy where I was, but made the switch and went all in. Continued on the learning path, and generally getting pretty decent results. For a very long time, I believed it was all about the photographer, Eye, Skills, abilities. Then I realized it sometimes is the photographer, but the camera and lens enable achievements / captures impossible otherwise. Think Bugs or Birds or Astro. I cheerfully use the various built in features of the cameras, on the other hand, most times I don't really need VR, I generally get the photo. The years of learning, practice, and experience will usually carry me through. I have some deletes, but except in the worst conditions, a small percentage.
I got an advert today for the newest pro super camera, I'll leave out the brand to avoid that swamp. From the intro piece it sounds as if the camera will do everything but trigger itself. The sample photos were stunningly good. The eye, of course, remains, but does someone acquiring one of these, and learning its capabilities, jump past decades of skill development and learning? I won't buy one, and have an old style background, so even if I did, could never know. What do you think?

It would appear you don't think Nikon should advertise their newest camera and tell us it is the greatest thing since the invention of photography. They aren't forcing you to spend $6000 for a new camera. You have a choice. Anytime, a company has a new product they tout it as the greatest ever. So if you prefer your old beat up pickup truck, please don't look at the new ad for a Silverado that I got yesterday. I don't care if you buy one or not.

When I was in school, if they closed schools for below zero temperatures, we would have had a winter long vacation. Of course, it doesn't get that cold much anymore, but still... Imagine if the patriots that fought in the Revolution were such pussies. Or newer, how about the Battle of the Bulge? Or just the poor sod busters that defined our country why back when? Although, I was glad when my daughter was home from school so I could teach her real grammar and algebra and progress to calculus. Even I got an education with that.

The 4X6 ratio comes from the 35mm days. However, your professional printer can make your favorite image to any size you want. If you ask to retain an aspect ratio, there might be some white space. but they won't stretch it to fit. I don't know why this all seems so hard. I really don't. Nearly all photo programs will let you resize to what you want, including Windows photo. I've never had issues with printing, even from Walmart.

If one wishes to show off our work it is inconvenient and perhaps pretentious to carry 100 8x10 prints. Having small size prints in a folder booklet is more realistic. One book could be "creative art" another "street photography" etc. Rather than print at home, take a USB drive to the drugstore and take advantage of the holiday specials. Thinking dpi and pixels is, while sophisticated, just is not the way the brain sees... we with pride are the only inch country in the world respecting the width of the British Kings thumb with [Miramar is inch, but converting to metric].

The oddity is getting a small quick to show your portfolio made low-cost drugstore specials, 7-10 Cent 4x6" holiday specials. 8x10" [4x5" at that ratio] commonly used, is not 4x6", Drugstore size. The machine auto crops, the 8x10, is reduced, the 10" dimension ratio down to 6" requires that the 8" be reduced to 4.8". Will that lost 0.2" be ok? Perhaps. The other choice is to add an inch to the 5" dimension by using a batch canvas enlargement using that blank 1" space for notes of where and when and cameras setting etc.

Cropping to "where you want it" is OK for a few prints, but one grows old when re-cropping 100 just-so print files to an acceptable 4x6 ratio, batch processing or no processing is more practical. Why is 4x6 used, it is an oddball ratio?

So, yes, Ronsipus, print size is a problem, if you wish you can print and cut the excess paper off so only the printed image is left and if you matt, then custom make your matt.
Indeed a dilemma that each person will solve with compromise and effort.

Except it’s not film. Oops.

Why does it matter? Because it’s a different recording medium. Film records light differently from
digital. Film has what is termed a “soft shoulder” exposure characteristic. It doesn’t blow out highlights instantly like digital. And you never heard of Moire patterns with film because of the random distribution of the crystal grains on film.

I’m not saying it’s better, but I am saying it’s different.

And yes it’s digitized on the back end for printing but just like with audio recording, the front end makes a big difference in the end result.

And one more thing. Are you under the impression that film cameras don’t have auto modes? Just like with digital M mode is a choice with an SLR.

Yeah, I get you there, it is all about the medium. That is why I still have an eight track in my car. Do you know where I can find one of those vinyl disk players from the fifties? I have original recordings I'd love to ruin. Digital recordings don't sound the same, because by observation, it isn't HDR. It is scratchy, crackly, skips with the slightest dust and doesn't have the fidelity of digital. But who cares? It is more fun to screw with the past.

A long time ago I knew a man who was a photographer for the newspaper. I went to his house a few times to buy some lenses and shutters for my view camera. He had a huge collection of Graflex Speed Graphic cameras some Rollei and Hasselblads and all sorts of 35 mm cameras. He usually just gave me the lenses. But caught my interest was the big bookcase full of rolls of film and 35mm cassettes and even 4X5 film holders that had exposed film in them. They were covered with thick layer of dust. Plus X, Tri-X, Kodachrome and Ectacrome and film I can't even pronounce. One day I asked him why he didn't develop all that film. He told me he knew what was on it and didn't need to see it again. I asked him how he knew it was exposed properly. He told me that he knew it was. I often wonder was became of all of that stuff when he died. We'll probably never see any of it and he didn't.
