Really a nice shot, PQ. Great to see it's source. Am I correct in assuming this is the northern-most source water to the Mississippi?

Actually there are tributaries to the Missouri River in Canada. But the headwaters of the Mississippi are farther north than that of the Missouri.

From Itasca State Park, Minnesota. Just a few hundred yards from its source in Lake Itasca.

Looks almost as bad here in Santa Cruz. It looked like dawn at 9:00, the street lights were still on.

I was trying out my new lens/teleconverter combo. Shot with a Canon 7Dii with 300/2.8 and 2x converter. Handheld at 1/1600 or 1/2000 at f/11 ISO 800. I might have been better off at f/8 and ISO 400.

For the future, I always tell them to hold their eyes open and not blink until the count of 3. Then I press the shutter at 2.

That's what I did when I used to shoot large groups of people; it usually worked.

I've ben considering the Canon G5ii. It meets most of your requirements except the weather sealing and freezing temperatures.

Race cars use nitrogen to fill the tires because air contains some water that changes the pressure in the tire as it gets hot which changes the handling dynamics of the car at high speed. They use nitrogen because it is cheaper that drying the air. There is no reason a passenger car would need nitrogen filled tires except to increase the profits of the dealer that sells it. As for filling optics with argon it too is all about water. The argon is completely dry and so condensation will not occur on the elements in cold weather. The only optics I own that I know are argon filled are a pair of Zeiss binoculars. I zoom lens that changes volume could not be sealed.

The smoke is so bad from the nearby fires that I am just staying inside and finally getting around to processing old photos.

The first is a focus stack from two handheld images done in Photoshop with additional processing in Lightroom. The second is another view of the same flower.
