From Itasca State Park, Minnesota. Just a few hundred yards from its source in Lake Itasca.
Nice composition and that leading line is fantastic.

Walked across it when I was 10
At the head waters of the Mississippi you can walk across it with out getting your feet wet.
Excellent picture
Very nice image. Stick a toy "Steamboat" in there for a chuckle.
That’s a nice, peaceful setting--nice composition, too. It’s difficult to imagine that the mighty Mississippi has its roots here.

Interesting shot! Always knew it was there but never saw a photo. Thank you!
Lots of rivers feed into the Mississippi. I wonder why that particular branch was chosen as the source.

I grew up in Memphis where that river is huge and fast. Hard to believe that’s the same river!
That's about the only place you can walk across the Mississippi, did it many years ago when we lived in MN.

I've walked across it at Memphis... on the newest bridge just after construction and before it opened!
Too cool for school. Never seen those headwaters. Thanks for posting.
Really a nice shot, PQ. Great to see it's source. Am I correct in assuming this is the northern-most source water to the Mississippi?
