What effect has the virus done to your photography?
It has cause me to have about 80% decrease compared to a year ago.
Many events that i would attend are no more.
My travel plans have be reduced to 0%.
My airbnb guest has been reduced to 0%.
Overall it has been a bummer.

Well, it has caused me to spend time going thru old Hard Drives, looking at photos from way past, asking myself,
'Why would I have kept This One and That One"? -
In doing this Drudge work, I also discovered that Google Photos, which I signed up for, and apparently agreed to have all of my photos added, and looking thru it, discovered MANY (Hundreds) of pix that I didn't take, added to my photos, which is the reason I had to Buy more 'storage' from Google!
So, That's some of what I've been spending 'Pandemic Time' doing! - (with lots more to do! - UGH!)

Anyone know any secret agent ways to predict firey sunrise/sunsets? Would have loved to have been ready for Manhattan from Jersey yesterday... Magnificent!!!

I use an App called 'Sunsurveyor' - It gives you the Times for Sunrise & Sunset, and exactly WHERE it's going to Set or Rise, and the Moon info as well. - (Depends on the time of year)
It has a built-in calendar so you can look up future dates and times for Sunsets, etc, which is very handy if you have a 'Favorite Spot' with a Sunset in mind, and when to catch it.
Next, check the weather for incoming 'Fronts' & Clouds which may make for more dramatic photos!
Best of Luck! - (Send Photos!)

Pictures posted with no location - it would be nice to know where the scenic/buildings/statues/art/bridges/etc. shots were taken.

Discussions about areas by name or abbreviations with no refernece to location - remember, not everyone is familiar with the area you are discussing - a local reference to a place means nothing to an outsider and sometimes Google does not have an answer...

Using abbreviations or acronyms for places/things - not everyone knows what they mean - please spell them out.

3D photos - it would be nice to see the original photo posted with it.
Some vision problems such as strabismus (eye turn), amblyopia (lazy eye), or poor binocular skills (eyes drift apart) can interfere with the ability to see true 3D.
Pictures posted with no location - it would be nic... (show quote)

I agree, and have also been slightly frustrated by Posts that have no additional info on their locations. - (Maybe some of us are close enough to enjoy the area being shown in the posted photos! ) - More Info, Please!

Ok, 2 views is the number of people who ask a question of the owner. 780 is the number of people who just look and move on. That is not a good sign to have only two people ask a question out of 782 people.

OK, - Got it now. - Thank you!

Today I posted for sale some cameras. I think I did it at the wrong time. I look at other posting found the following:
2 views 780
3 '' 739
11 '' 1311
7 '' 1353
1 '' 695
I not question the items being sold or price. Look at the numbers, those numbers are telling me people do not have money to buy things. Everyone is looking but no buyers. It 1933 and welcome to hard times all over for second time.

These numbers are kinda confusing! - (2 views 780, - etc.?) Sorry, but do not understand.

As this kayaker rounded the bend it surprised the buffleheads and it was scatter city. I was in a concealed position and saw it coming and was ready for the shot. I love it when a plan comes together.

A DUCK by any other name! -
(Had to look that one up, as I've never heard of a Bufflehead, so didn't know if we were talking Fish, Otters, Beavers, or Birds!)

WOW! - A 'Jack of All Trades'? - Looks like he, (she?), may have been a Sailor, a Mason, a Stonemason, a Miner/Prospector, and maybe even a Blacksmith!
Very Nice photo of some Very Nice Work.

Picasa made it Sooo Simple! -
In Picasa, one would just click on the Photos to be shared via connected email, then press SEND!
(I am a Google Fan, but Deactivating and pulling Support for Picasa really put me Off!)

Hey Hoggers, I'm finally getting around to replacing Picasa. All I need is something for simple edits, organizing and sharing capabilities. Been doing a bunch of research on all the programs out there. Tried the trial version of lightroom did not like it I'm thinking Luminar 4 is the way to go. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I feel your pain. - I too, was perfectly happy with Picasa and would actually PAY for a stand-alone version of it.
Picasa was 'Just Right' for 95% of my photos and organizing, and Lightroom or PSE would work for more involved Editing, but I'm not a fan of sitting at the PC for hours staring at small details to 'fix'.

Thanks for all of the great info, - but I am now lost on "Configuring the RTX 2060 GPU"!
How and WHY is this done? - (Seems as tho it would come ready for 'Plug n Play'!)

(This reply is for bwana's comment, & I seem to not know how to 'Reply' individually)

(But, as we're on this 'Reply' Page, - THANKS TO YOU ALL for the suggestions and ideas,
THIS is exactly what I had hoped for from you all!)

Hi, - I have just purchased my first brand-new PC since 2000! - (Mainly for Photography-related reasons).
I believe I have selected a pretty robust PC for the job and would love some advice from fellow Hoggers.
Description: -
Dell XPS 8940 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-10700 processor(8-Core, 16M Cache, 2.9GHz to 4.8GHz) Operating System:Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, English Video Card:NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 SUPER™ 8GB GDDR6
Memory:16GB, 1x16GB, DDR4, 2933MHz
Hard Drive:256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive + 2TB 7200 rpm 3.5" SATA Hard Drive
Dell Wireless Card W1810/QCA9377.
After unpacking, attaching the necessary cables, and plugging it in, - What are the first things one would install, and in which order?
Anti-virus First? - Which one? - and, so on with the other programs, one would like/need to have on their new PC, Especially, any favorite Photo Editing & Organizing programs that I should consider.
(At 75 years young, and not a 'Pro', this will probably be my last PC, and I'd love for it to be properly optimized and would appreciate any advice. - Thanks, Pat

Continue to check the Rainfall in the Western States during the Winter. -
With decent amounts of rain, the 'Hills Are Alive' with the Beauty of Wildflowers,
and even Death Valley jumps in now and then!
