Hey Hoggers, I'm finally getting around to replacing Picasa. All I need is something for simple edits, organizing and sharing capabilities. Been doing a bunch of research on all the programs out there. Tried the trial version of lightroom did not like it I'm thinking Luminar 4 is the way to go. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Maybe share a little what you didn't like ahout Lightroom? A lot of programs have similar 'sliders' but some are easier on those not wanting to get into the weeds. For example Photoshop elements has a quick mode that is pretty intuitive and does most of the basics, and also guided and advanced if you ever need it.

Adobe Bridge is free and helps keep track of your images. From there, simple edits can be done in Windows Photos.

The manufacturer of your camera probably has free editing software on their website which will fill your needs.

Hi Royce. Have you double-checked the replies to your August query, just in case there's a gem awaiting? https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-662494-1.html

Does Luminar have a free trial to test drive? Have you downloaded the free trial of PS Elements? Some of its benefits were explained in the August thread. I'm a huge fan of PSE!

I'm going to stick with Picasa for as long as possible. What prompted you to change?

I’m still using Picasa for some special effects that I like and for framing--after I’ve finished processing in LR (and using Luminar as a plug-in). I haven’t found a program for framing (on my Mac) that I like as well as Picasa. If there’s one out there, I haven’t found it yet.

Try FastStone’s Image Viewer. Great price = free (but I encourage a donation if you like it). Mainly a viewer of most image file types, but also includes adjustment features. Definitely worth a look see. May be all you need.

I use Luminar 4.3, and PSE 20. I like the AI features in Luminar, but be aware that Luminar is much slower than PSE 20. PSE 20 response time is almost instantaneous. Try the FREE TRIAL of Luminar 4.3 to see how it works on your system.

I would endorse this recommendation too. I use it as a replacement for that dreadful Photos default in Win10, primarily as an easily navigable viewer, but also take advantage of some of its very simple editing tools.

However, for something a little more sophisticated, try Picture Window Pro - the warp (keystone fix) is awesome BTW. It is a free program from the former Lotus developer so comes with sound credentials.

I feel your pain. - I too, was perfectly happy with Picasa and would actually PAY for a stand-alone version of it.
Picasa was 'Just Right' for 95% of my photos and organizing, and Lightroom or PSE would work for more involved Editing, but I'm not a fan of sitting at the PC for hours staring at small details to 'fix'.

Take a look at Luminar 4. Powerful, much easier to use than LR/PS and no annual fee.

I strongly recommend Digikam as a replacement of Picasa...

Are any of the above mentioned programs geared to sort and organize files as did picasa? Any suggestions and/or recommendations are welcomed
