I took a reg pic, changed it to BW using Calculations.
Got it about where I wanted it.
then loaded image, adjustments, black and white and made a few adjustments,
Then loaded topaz and removed a bit of noise.
The image is flat, doesnt seem to have much depth to me.
can anyone give me any help using photoshop to make it better?
I am not looking for someone to do it,I want to learn how you do it.
also wondering if I shot it as 3 pic and converted it with HDR would that give it depth?

In Ps, go to Image-Adjustments-Selective Color and using the dropdown menu adjust White, Mid-tone and Black to your liking.

I need to replace my photo printer and have seen some good reviews for this one: Epson Expression Photo XP-15000. It's very reasonably priced for a wide format printer and price is important to me, unfortunately. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has used one. I will be using it for photo printing only. Thanks.

I own and use the XP-15000, and although I may go for weeks in between prints I have never experienced problems with clogged inks, The prints are of outstanding quality and although ink is expensive I have calculated that I can print an image using Epson ink and Epson quality photo paper at less cost than sending the image to Cosco or other services. Also, I have the printed image when I want it.

Anyone been there in September
Just wondering what to except for photography
Was there 4 yrs ago for the 1st - 2 weeks in January - What an experience
I have a D810 w/ a 14-24 - along with the big & little stopper 150x150 Lee filters.
Also bought a 150x170 Lee soft grad.
Along with all my other lenses and the 100 Lee system for those lenses, I’m just not sure what to expect
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Don

If, by chance, you would be interested in touring by horseback for 8-10days, contact http://ridingicelandtours.com/. You would be with a group led by a guide with great scenery.

I’m looking for a lab that prints photos as cropped rather than only doing standard crop sizes. I don’t mind extra white on edges (for example a 9x13 on 11x14 paper). I also want a printer that does real black and white prints instead of running them through a color setup resulting in a blue cast. I used to use Jack’s in Muncie, IN, but it has closed.
Any suggestions?

Try Dalmatian lab. Thy specialize in B&W. When I was working professionally, I used to send them all if my B&W film. They now do digital and both B&W and color. Great people to work with.

Received another email from Nikon about Trade in for a Z mirrorless.
Full of hype about this new mirrorless craze.
Has any one experienced a problem with the Mirrorless electronic shutter. Photos of moving subjects at high shutter speeds being distorted.
The problem, while the electronic shutter move across the sensor at say 1/1000 or higher there is a lag time. The time it takes to actually read the complete sensor that could be as slow as 1/15. This leaves a sharply focused image but distorted exposure. Basically you will photographing a moving subject but it will be on one area of the sensor when you trip the shutter and on another when the exposure is complete.
Seen a few postings about this problem
Just wondering if this is a problem any of the Mirrorless users have encountered.

The electronic shutter is also not recommended for use with flash. Same problem as exceeding sync speed with flash.

I have been using Corel Paint Shop. Pay up front for the download, then you will keep getting offers to buy updates. I looked at Lightroom but do not use it enough to justify paying $20 a month

Why would you be paying $20.00 per month instead of the photo package which also includes Photoshop for $10.00 per month?

I would advise copying to your computer either before uploading to LR or copying to your computer through LR. You want the original on your computer. For one thing LR refers to the original when you edit something, and if you import from a card, the original will go away when you reformat your card.

I use LR to import my files to an external hard drive. One step. My image files are then placed on that drive and linked with LR. When I reformat my card, the files disappear from the card, but remain on the hard drive and linked to LR.

Looking at buying a new Canon RP camera. I am trying to decide which lens to buy with it. My two choices are the RF 24-105 mm STM or the RF 24-105 mm L. Of course the L is more expensive and is weatherproof. Regarding reviews that I have read it sounds like image quality is similar and if you want to save money the RF 24-105 mm STM is recommended. Just wondering if anyone out there has experience with one or the other or have seen images from both.

I went to the Canon sight and purchased the RP with the RF 24-105L. What a great camera and the lens is super sharp. Except for the box it came in the camera and lens appear to be new. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I Presently own a Nikon D3300 & 5 Nikon Lens. I have learned and enjoyed my knowledge gained from my 1st DSLR Camera. Now, I am contemplating a New Camera, I think I will stay with the Crop-Sensor line, maybe move up to a used D5600 Body, since I already have 5 Nikon DSLR Lens. I have heard so much about the new MIRRORLESS Cameras, although I realize it would mean purchasing a whole new system of Photography Camera & Lens, not even sure I can afford my contemplated change. I am also at the age of 70 now and am not a Technology Genius, so maybe I have already answered my own question, "Should I take the Leap to MIRRORLESS, or be content with my current Equipment?? Ok, I guess I will leave this New impressive Technology to our Younger Generation.

Come on, now. At 70 years you are to old to change? I am a few months away from being 86. Two years ago as I prepared for a ten day trip to Israel, I convinced myself my Canon 7D mark II was heavier than I wanted to carry every day. So I took the step and ordered the Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera. When it arrived, I had questions. It was so small and light that it looked like a toy beside my 7DII. By the end of the first day with the tour group in Israel I was in love with the M50. No real learning curve involved. Earlier this year I decided to add full frame to my collection and went to the Canon website and purchased a refurbished RP. What a great camera. My point; never assume you are just too old to advance.

I believe it was the ancient Greek Archimedes who realized that when you fill a bath of water and let a 24MP DSLR sink below the surface, the volume of water displaced is the total number dots the camera can print. This instance of photographic insight is now known as the Eureka moment.

Wow, I payed a lot of money for my new camera, but it won't print anything.

Can anyone tell me how to find out how may pixels are in a inch.
I’m trying to print pictures and my computer shows everything in pixels
I want it in inches.

It sounds to me that you are asking to see the dimensions of the image in inches and when you check the image size in your post processing software it is showing it in some other measurement. If so, there should be an arrow or other symbol next to the measurement boxes that you can click and choose inches. You can then change one box and the second should change to the corresponding dimension. You can change the overall dimensional relationship in the crop image section of the software by entering 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, or whatever you select and cropping to that size. No need for involved mathematical calculations.

I had this problem recently with a polarizer filter. Nothing I tried would work until I came across a YouTube video showing how to place a piece of tape around the filter, not on the lens, and then using your hand to turn the filter. Worked great. I used masking tape.

I am stuck on b&w and a bigger size. Statistics say color and 5x7 / 8x10 are the most sold.

Some years ago, I attended an outdoor art show where I found an older, very dignified looking photographer exhibiting both color and black and white prints. I asked him if he sold many of the black and whites. His answer; "Tourist buy color. Collectors buy black and white."

What is the best and easiest process to Create a Black background with my Camera in a Portrait or other photos? Is my Speedlight flash or other external light set-up part of the solution? Please provide understandable explanation to a Amatur Photographer please!
Thank You.

Set your flash for proper exposure of your subject. Set shutter speed (while not going above sync speed of your camera) to underexpose the background by 4 stops. Have your subject far enough from the background that the flash does not bleed over onto the background. Your shutter speed will not change the exposure on your subject, as the duration of the flash is much shorter than your shutter speed.

This is an odd question . How often do you flip a foto ? Obviously if a foto has type/writing you can't . Lately I notice that I flip images a fair amount . I like subject on right hand side . I also like flow of foto to be from left to right . Could this be because i'm a westerner/american and tend to do things left to right ?? Or I am right handed ?? Others thoughts on this appreciated .

A very simple reason for this. Unlike some other cultures (Chinees for instance) we are accustomed to reading from left to right. This means when looking at a page of information our eyes start at the left and move to the right. This is generally true when viewing a photograph. Our eyes enter the photograph from the left and then move to the right. If the main subject of the photograph is on the left side, our eyes tend to stop there and fail to take in the rest of the image. If the main subject is on the right side, our eyes enter from the left and move to the left , seeing all of the image before stopping on the right side.
