Yes, self vulcanizing rubber tape. Available in most hardware stores. When coupled with a stainless steel hose clamp, is a very safe temporary repair.

60 years ago

We just celebrated our 60th anniversary so I was at home 60 years ago. A few years before, I was on a carrier in Europe and doing the same thing your friend was doing above.

My Defective Gifts

Consider reformatting the drive. If the partition is messed up, your computer won't recognize it. Try a partition manager software app and see if there is a partition on the drive. There are several free apps that can create a partition and format also.

The safest electronic way to erase data is to encrypt it all then scrub the drive with any number of free or cheap software cleaners. That way, if any snippet of data is found, it will be part of an encrypted file and useless.

New to photography
